  1. 'Clean and classic' or 'basic and bland'? Fans on new home kitpublished at 16:01 1 July

    Your views banner

We asked for your views on Manchester United's home kit for the 2024-25 season.

The Red Devils have opted for a simple design for the upcoming campaign, which will see them compete in the Europa League once again.

Here are your thoughts on the new strip:

Martin: All of the kits under the new brand have shown a lack of imagination. I don't think much time has been spent on any of the designs.

Michael: I love the new home kit. I think it looks classy.

Steve: The shorts are terrible, they are just a basic take on the pattern that is doing the rounds at the Euros. The top is very bland and uninspiring. Fingers crossed the second and third strips will be better.

Anthony: Great. Clean. Classic. However, £80 for an adult short-sleeve shirt is ridiculous.

Craig: I much prefer last season's home kit. I don't like the orange and the line at the back of the shirt doesn't go with the rest of it. I wish they would just stick to the basics.

Manchester United will wear the Snapdragon logo on the front of their shirts next season.

United unveiled the new design on Monday, with the logo part of the new three-year deal with US-based Qualcomm Technologies, which will net them in excess of £60m a year.

The kit will be worn in pre-season, part of which will see them play in the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego when they take on La Liga outfit Real Betis on 27 July.

United believe the deal to be the largest of its kind in the world, and it also contains the option to extend by a further two years.

Kobbie Mainoo (19 years and 72 days) became the third-youngest player to start for England in a major tournament knockout stage game, after Michael Owen (18y-198d) against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup round of last 16 and Wayne Rooney (18y-244d) against Portugal in the Euro 2004 quarter-finals.

  5. Which Premier League teams have the most players still at Euro 2024?published at 13:29 28 June

A general view of the UEFA Euro 2024 footballImage source, Getty Images

Managers will always outwardly support their players on the international stage, but you can be sure one or two will privately be hoping for an early exit from Euro 2024 for a few of their star men.

International tournament summers disrupt pre-season for managers.

Various players from different nations return to their clubs at different times, sometimes with injuries, holidays get postponed and rescheduled. As a general rule, the best players are more likely to play for the best nations and therefore go further in international tournaments.

The Euro 2024 final will take place on 14 July. Over half of Premier League clubs already have a pre-season fixture scheduled within 10 days of that.

Of English clubs, unsurprisingly, Premier League champions Manchester City have comfortably the most players in the Euro 2024 knockouts. The best represented Premier League side at the start of the competition have a full line-up of 11 stars still in Germany.

They are followed by the rest of last season's top three - Arsenal and Liverpool - who have eight and seven respectively. Manchester United also have seven while Brentford - aided by their healthy Danish contingent - have six and Crystal Palace five.

Championship play-off winners Southampton's three representatives were all eliminated at the group stage, while fellow newly promoted side Ipswich have not seen their summer impacted at all by players at Euro 2024.

Of the Championship-winning Leicester squad, goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and defenders Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard remain in Germany - as does Turkey's Yunus Akgun, who spent last season on loan with the Foxes.

This data was provided by Opta and counts the clubs where players finished at the end of the 2023-24 season.

  6. McNulty Q&A: Is it time for Mainoo, Palmer and Gordon to start?published at 12:29 28 June

Before England's Euro 2024 last-16 tie against Slovakia on Sunday, the BBC's chief football writer Phil McNulty has been answering readers' questions on all things Three Lions.

Mike asked: Do you see the previously benched players who made an impact in the last game (Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon) starting against Slovakia? Or do you feel their positive impact was as a result of the time they came on?

Phil answered: I can see at least two [of Mainoo, Palmer and Gordon], or possibly all three, starting against Slovakia. Mainoo gave the team some urgency against Slovenia, while Palmer looked confident and creative when he came on as a substitute in the second half. Gordon only a got a couple of minutes - but he has a chance because England look unbalanced on the left flank, which is his natural position.

  7. Re-sign Sabitzer? Your suggestions for Euros signingspublished at 16:46 27 June

We asked for your views on which Euros player would be a good fit for Manchester United.

Here are a few of your suggestions:

Moeed: I think Manchester United should sign Jonathan Tah. They should sign him as a replacement for Varane as he is tall, strong and has good game intelligence. He has also just had a unbeaten Bundesliga campaign with Bayer Leverkusen. If they raise his price tag, we should only buy him and not Jarrad Branthwaite.

Chris: Marc Guehi looks a class act and he already has Premier League experience. If he is obtainable, I think Manchester United should try to get him rather than Jarrad Branthwaite.

Peter: Adam Wharton. If they are going to end up spending £50m on a defensive central midfielder, why not bite the bullet and get a young English star? We should have done this with Declan Rice before his star rose too far. Wharton could form a club-and-country midfield with Kobbie Mainoo for the next decade.

Dani: I would love to see Slovakia's Stanislav Lobotka in the heart of our midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

Jonny: I would pick Marcel Sabitzer. Why, oh why, did Manchester United let him go after his loan spell?!

Wilf: Our need for a central defender is so obvious and, for me, the standout player has been Alessandro Bastoni. He is a good, solid, hard-tackling defender that is strong in the air and comfortable on the ball. He would be perfect.

  8. Luke Shaw: 10 years as a Red Devilpublished at 11:53 27 June

After signing a four-year contract to join Manchester United on 27 June, 2014, Luke Shaw has gone on to become the club's current longest-serving player and complete a 10-year stint at the club.

The 28-year-old has made 275 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring four goals and providing 28 assists along the way.

Over the 10 years, Shaw has picked up five major honours; one Europa League title, one Community Shield, two League Cups and one FA Cup.

His current contract is due to expire in June 2027.

  9. 'It shows the importance of experienced players'published at 19:20 26 June

The experience of players like Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford could have made a difference for England at Euro 2024, says former Three Lions striker Wayne Rooney.

Defender Maguire was not selected by manager Gareth Southgate because of injury, while Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford and fellow forward Jack Grealish of Manchester City failed to make the final cut.

However, England have received criticism for some lacklustre performances in Germany, despite finishing top of their group with five points.

"When Gareth named the squad, 95% of fans, pundits and journalists were delighted with it," Rooney told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

"I was one of the only ones who was a bit concerned with the lack of experience.

"People have been crying out for Gareth to leave Harry Maguire out of the squad, to leave certain players out of the squad and bring in players who are doing well for their clubs.

"But sometimes you need that experience. Grealish and Rashford haven't had the best of seasons but would they make a little bit of a difference?

"It shows the importance of experienced players and players who have done well for England in the past."

  11. Starting Mainoo 'will just push against Southgate's instincts'published at 12:23 26 June

    Kobbie MainooImage source, Getty Images

Starting Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo for England will go "against Southgate's instincts" says the Telegraph's chief football writer Sam Wallace.

The 19-year-old was brought on at half-time to replace Chelsea's Conor Gallagher in the Three Lions' final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday.

It was the second time Mainoo has been brought on as a substitute at Euro 2024 and he put in an assured display that has led to calls for him to start England's next match.

Despite only playing a half, Mainoo was second to defender Marc Guehi for possession won and joint third for total duels alongside striker Harry Kane.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, Wallace said: "What we have to remember about [Gareth] Southgate is he, by nature, is a cautious manager.

"So that second midfielder alongside [Declan] Rice is always going to be of a defensive mind. That is why he started with Trent Alexander-Arnold. That is why he then moved on to Conor Gallagher.

"He is gradually edging towards a more attacking player and Mainoo in his career will be more of a number eight.

"That goes against Southgate's instincts but I do think Mainoo's performance warranted a start."

Manchester United are interested in Paris St-Germain's Manuel Ugarte, with the Uruguay international among midfield targets being looked at.

The FA Cup winners are likely to need a replacement this summer for Brazil international Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

No formal bids have yet been made for Ugarte and other options are being discussed as United look to extend manager Erik ten Hag's contract.

The French champions are believed to have interest from clubs across Europe, including one other English club, and are holding out for a substantial fee.

However, they are open to selling Ugarte despite signing him ahead of Chelsea in a £51m deal from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

Ugarte was a rotation option under manager Luis Enrique as PSG won a league and cup double while also reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

Debate continues over who England manager Gareth Southgate should name in his starting XI for England's final group match against Slovenia at Euro 2024.

A selection of BBC Sport pundits, along with chief football writer Phil McNulty, have picked their England teams for Tuesday's game.

Former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas has called for Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo to get his first start of the tournament.

"On the ball, he has the quality we need to maintain possession and he also naturally wants to play on a different line to Declan Rice, which will give Rice more space to do what he does best." Jenas said of the teenager.

Below is Jenas' preferred starting XI, and you can see more pundits' teams here.

Joe McGrath and Gaz Drinkwater spoke about Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's recent media interviews in the latest episode of BBC Radio Manchester's The Devils' Advocate podcast.

McGrath said: "He's very good at taking criticism that's put to him in questions. When asked about Erik ten Hag, he was very good at giving him praise about being a good coach and having a good relationship with the players.

"It's not the first interview we've seen with Sir Jim, he's done about three or four. He's going to be quite a good voice for Manchester United."

Drinkwater added: "It's so weird hearing an owner talking about Manchester United. For the best part of 20 years we've had these blokes who I don't think even know that United play in red.

"It's very refreshing, these honest and open conversations we're getting are really nice to hear. There are things he's said that I slightly disagree with, but as long as there's honest and open conversations, I'm happy."
