Lap 34/51
Lewis Hamilton has gone from 12th place to fifth in this race after a difficult qualifying on Saturday and is still running his opening hard tyre. The seven-time world champion reaches Turn 15 and his rear wheel kisses the barrier - that was close.
Max Verstappen out in front is a pit stop ahead of Lando Norris running in fourth place. The McLaren driver has already watched his team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri crash out, so how many points can collect from this Baku race today? Norris has lasted 33 laps on these starting medium so far.
Ben Edwards F1 commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra
Oscar Piastri is the only non-finisher so far in this race and scoring nothing as championship leader, he's just got to keep an eye on what everyone else is doing.
The fastest lap is paying race leader Max Verstappen a visit on is 30-lap-old hard tyres. Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, has made his way past Isack Hadjar and has taken the rookie's P10 spot. But now he's stuck behind the other Racing Bulls car of Liam Lawson.
Isack Hadjar gets his wish to pit and he's in and out in a flash and comes back out in eighth place, behind the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli and ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.
The top five - Verstappen, Russell, Tusnoda, Norris and Hamilton - have all yet to pit in this race.
That pit stop for Carlos Sainz lifts the Mercedes of George Russell up to second place, with the other Red Bull of Yuki Tsunoda in the final podium position.
Isack Hadjar is asking his Racing Bulls pit wall to bring him in, as the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli is right on his tail. His engineer tells him not to worry, they're going to look after him.
Everyone was predicting that the hard would be the best tyre and it does look like it, but the longer Lando Norris delays his stop on to the hard tyre, the more he's compromising his race.
Williams call in Carlos Sainz from second place and fit the Spaniard with hard tyres. He's rejoins the action and takes his new place in sixth spot, behind the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton, who is yet to pit.
Gabriel Bortoleto is pitted by Sauber so the order of the top 10 changes again. The Brazilian drops down to P16 on a set of medium tyres. Another car is called in - and it's a Williams...
Kimi Antonelli's performance was described as "underwhelming" by Mercedes boss Toto Wolff after Monza but the rookie is doing a good job in Baku this weekend. His next target is fellow newbie Gabriel Bortoleto and his to-do list is ticked off with minimal fuss. P8 for the Italian.
The Red Bull of Max Verstappen, who started on the hards, is seven seconds clear of the Williams of Carlos Sainz and is comfortably leading the field after taking pole position in that chaotic session yesterday.
Daniel: This could be a turning point for Piastri but the next 45 minutes could make or break the season for Norris. Get onto the podium somehow and title fight very much on. Failing to would be an open goal missed, and potentially the final opportunity gone.
Pete: Oscar may have had one horrific weekend, but he is still very fortunate that Lando’s gains are going be rather minimal. All signs point to a championship for Piastri
The Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli is now clocking fastest laps on his hard tyres and is looking to make moves on the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto. The top eight as it stands have yet to come into the pits.

Kimi Antonelli made that look easy, even going through Turn 16, I kind of knew he was going to have that done as he was only half a second adrift from Liam Lawson.
Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz are still running in first and second place but now George Russell has moved up to third with all those pit stops. Kimi Antonelli finds the space to pass Liam Lawson and takes the Racing Bulls man's P9 spot.
Racing Bulls pull the trigger and call in Liam Lawson from third place. The New Zealander is weaving around and trying to get heat into his fresh hard tyres but he's under pressure from the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli, who has also changed his medium compounds to the hard tyres. Lawson just about holds on and is now P10, with Italian Antonelli in P11.
