Max Verstappen wins the United States Grand Prix from pole position! The Red Bull driver has dominated in Austin and is now just 40 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri with five races remaining.
Lando Norris' overtakes on Charles Leclerc means he also cuts the title deficit to Piastri with his second place and Leclerc claims another podium for Ferrari in third.

It's great. Game on. It is close enough to be interesting. We thought it the championship was going to end up with a foregone conclusion the way that Oscar was going at it in the earlier part of the season but definitely it is all to play for now.
The finish line is in sight for Max Verstappen but Lewis Hamilton is suddenly under pressure and is on the radio to say he thinks he has a puncture! The seven-time world is in fourth place but is he in trouble? He should be fine.
Max Verstappen won the sprint race from pole yesterday and unless something dramatic happens on these finals laps, he's going to do the same again in the main race. After the Hungarian Grand Prix in August, he was 97 points behind leader Oscar Piastri. The gap is about to be cut again tonight...
Gabriel Bortoleto is given the nod to let race leader Max Verstappen through, which the Brazilian does with minimal fuss. Franco Colapinto passes his Alpine team-mate Pierre Gasly for 17th place after a bit of back and forth on the radio with his engineer.
George Russell in sixth was gaining on Oscar Piastri but the championship leader seems to have navigated any threat and stays in fifth place. Max Verstappen, meanwhile, reaches a load of backmarkers but the Red Bull driver doesn't make any rash decisions and just holds his position for another lap.
A very happy Zak Brown sitting on the pit wall next to Andrea Stella. Clapped his hands when Norris got to P2. If it finishes like this the gap between Piastri and Norris closes to just 14 points.
Charles Leclerc squirms as we start lap 50 of this United States Grand Prix and Lando Norris spots his chance to overtake - but no, he can't make the move stick at Turn One as he runs slightly wide.
Further down the road, another opportunity presents itself, so he throws Leclerc a dummy and passes the Ferrari to swipe second place!
Charles Leclerc will have to work hard now but he's got a decent amount of juice left in his Ferrari battery. The defensive moves are on display once again but Lando Norris is within DRS range. Can he catch the Monegasque driver?

Lando Norris has just missed out on getting the DRS. Norris is definitely attacking now. We'll find out whether Leclerc has got anything left on those tyres. They've done a long stint on those mediums. McLaren are believed to be the faster car. Looks more attacking to me, Norris on Leclerc.
Could we see a little scrap at the end of this race? Lando Norris is getting quicker and quicker in his McLaren and is closing down Charles Leclerc at a rapid rate. Second place, and with it extra points, is on the line here for Norris.

Ferrari have played a blinder. They've done the opposite, they have zagged when everyone zigged. They started on the soft tyres and most people would have gone 'OK, that is going to work for a few laps'. That car has managed to keep the tyres active, they went a lot further than anybody thought they would do on the soft tyres.
Kimi Antonelli has also joined the black and white flag club for track limits but the Mercedes driver keeps his front wing clean this time around to overtake Esteban Ocon's Haas for 13th place.
The Red Bull of Max Verstappen is six seconds free of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc - the two drivers on different tyres. It doesn't look like we'll see any late drama at the front, so the Dutchman is inching closer to another victory in 2025.

Norris: "Yeah, I am just slow. I don't have the grip when I'm close."
Engineer: "Okay, mate, I understand. The car feels **** right now, but the pace is really strong. We are under no threat from behind. When the carcass gets cooler, we'll go and get Leclerc."
Oliver Bearman, Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda are all inside the top 10 and gearing up for some round 19 points. Fernando Alonso is in 10th place but Liam Lawson in the Racing Bulls is creeping up behind the Aston Martin in 11th.
