    Pierre Gasly, in ninth, is on the Alpine radio to say Charles Leclerc really needs to get a move on and pass Fernando Alonso. Over at Haas, Esteban Ocon overtakes Liam Lawson, who under investigation for a first-lap collision with Ocon's team-mate Oliver Bearman, for 13th.

    Lando Norris has clear road in front of him as he leads this sprint race from pole position. But another message to the championship front-runner says he needs to look after his soft rear rubber.

    It looks like everyone is struggling a little bit into Turn One. I think because the straight is still wet the tyres are cooling down and getting a surface of water on the top of the tyre.

    Charles Leclerc is creeping up on Fernando Alonso. Actually, the Aston Martin driver has two Ferraris on his green tail. The Spaniard is now being told by his pit wall to lift and coast, with the best spot around Turn Four.

    Not only is Lando Norris happy in the lead, he's now the fastest car at Interlagos. The wind, though, is getting gustier, his engineer says. If it's not rain, will the wind play a part in this sprint race?

    Why is it a rolling start? I get that safety is paramount, but F1 is in the entertainment industry? If the cars or tyres aren't fit for purpose, then make changes to encourage the racing that the consumers pay to watch.

    Lando Norris is already out of that DRS gap, he's bridged the gap over a second which isn't allowing Kimi Antonelli to open his DRS.

    Kimi Antonelli is the fastest man on track on his medium tyres but he can't get close enough to mount a challenge on Lando Norris. Charles Leclerc is sixth and hunting down Fernando Alonso for fifth but the Ferrari man will have to wait another lap for a chance to strike again.

    Lando Norris leaving it as late as possible going really slow and backing everyone up. I think he was doing it on purpose to make sure chaos ensured behind.

    George Russell tried his best to ruffle the feathers of his Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli but the Italian rookie survives the first wave of attack. DRS is enabled and Lando Norris leads us through another lap. The McLaren driver, top of the standings by one point, is 1.2 seconds ahead of Antonelli.

    Lando Norris gets us going again and it's a great restart by the McLaren driver. Max Verstappen is under pressure from the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso but he manages to bat away the attack from the Spaniard.

    Lap 8/24

    The red flag is lifted and we're nearly ready to go racing again. How will Oscar Piastri be feeling now? As he said yesterday, there are more points on offer in Sunday's main grand prix but if Lando Norris wins, he'll extend his advantage over the Australian before qualifying.

    Nico Hulkenberg has headed out on track to put down a lap and clear the front cars so he's not in the way. What start are we getting? A rolling one...
