Let's keep an eye on Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar, he finished second in FP2 and is currently third.

  4. Sainz goes fastestpublished at 10:42 BST

Carlos Sainz is flying in his Williams on the soft tyre, he goes purple in all three sectors on his first lap of the day and tops the times with a 1:31.960.

The Spaniard is coming off the back of a podium finish in Baku.

His team-mate Alex Albon is right behind him in second.

  5. Piastri leading Norrispublished at 10:40 BST

It was a weekend to forget for McLaren in Azerbaijan but can Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris bounce back in Singapore? Piastri, who suffered a DNF in Baku, is 25 points clear of second-placed Briton Norris with seven races remaining.

Max Verstappen's win last time out, his fourth of the season, means he's now 44 points off Norris and 69 points behind leader Piastri in third place.

    Drivers' championship: 1. Piastri, 324 - 2. Norris, 299 - 3. Max Verstappen, 255 - 4. George Russell, 212 - 5. Charles Leclerc, 165 - 6. Lewis Hamilton, 121 - 7. Kimi Antonelli, 78 - 8. Alex Albon, 70 - 8. Isack Hadjar, 39 - 10. Nico Hulkenberg, 37Image source, BBC Sport
  6. Costly error for Ferraripublished at 10:39 BST

    Jennie Gow
    F1 pit-lane reporter in Singapore

I'm just in front of Max Verstappen's car - he's still not here, so no rush on this side of the garage. The McLarens have just headed out on a set of the medium tyres; I think it was Lando Norris going out first, and Oscar Piastri just behind him following on.

And just as a note of reference, yesterday, there was a little incident in the pit lane between Norris and the Ferrari Charles Leclerc. It did seem quite costly because they had to replace the whole of the front wing on the McLaren.

The incident cost Ferrari 10,000 euros. It was not a driver incident, more a team error.

  7. Norris P1published at 10:38 BST

Lando Norris will be grateful for a new day after he admitted that Friday was "difficult". The Brit finished sixth in FP1 and fifth in second practice.

The McLaren driver has won five races this season and will be looking for another opportunity this weekend to narrow the gap to his team-mate and championship leader Oscar Piastri.

Last year Norris put his McLaren on pole and went on to win the race, so he will be looking for a repeat performance.

He goes top of the times on the medium tyre with a 1:32.379.

But his team-mate Oscar Piastri (below) is right behind him, he crosses the line just under two-tenths slower.

Oliver Bearman is the first driver out on track in the Haas on the medium compound tyre. He sets a time of 1:33.986.

Yuki Tsunoda in the Red Bull is also out on the medium tyre.

Several of the drivers are now getting ready to leave the garages.

  10. 'Lot of running lost in FP2'published at 10:33 BST

    Sam Bird
Formula E driver on Sports Extra 2

[Second practice] was the one session were everyone wanted to get decent time on track - and they didn't get it. I think I counted 23 minutes of wasted track time due to red flags. I don't know why, with this particular event, with that one FP session being so valuable, they wouldn't stop the clock when there's a red flag.

It's a night event, keep the lights on, there's time do it. Let the drivers have 60 minutes. Everybody's long runs were comprised, a lot of people's qualifying runs were comprised. We lost a lot of running last night.

The two incidents that led to red flags were crashes by Mercedes' George Russell and Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson.

Russell lost control on the entry to Turn 16, and nosed into the barriers, breaking his front wing. He missed the rest of the session because the car required a full system reset.

Lawson crashed on the exit of the same chicane, clouting the wall out of Turn 17, breaking his right-side wheels and coming to rest in the pit lane entry.

  16. 'Difficult day' for Norrispublished at 10:19 BST

Lando Norris was downcast after yesterday's second practice session, his collision with Charles Leclerc in the pit lane one of the main talking points of the scrappy hour of running.

Ferrari released Leclerc into Norris' path as they both headed out on track, knocking the McLaren into the pit wall.

"A difficult day for me," Norris said on Friday.

"Not feeling too great with the car, missing all the feelings I had here last year, plenty of things to work on. Just a bad day.

"Oscar's quick so I have nothing to complain about, just not doing a very good job."
