  1. 'Should be an immediate red flag' - Hornerpublished at 12:30 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

Max Verstappen was furious after his Q2 knockout after the red flag was shown for Lance Stroll's crash. Here's what Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had to say about the incident to Sky Sports: "Hugely frustrating. We don't understand why it took so long for the red flag to come out.

"It was obviously a big accident, Turn Three, one of the most dangerous corners on the circuit and 40 seconds it took to throw the red flag. It's the second day in a row now that we've had very late calls, whether it was the VSC yesterday or the red flag today. The other red flags were all instantaneous.

"Very, very harsh, but it is what it is. We've got to try and fight back this afternoon. As soon as you have an accident like that, it should be an immediate red flag."

How about delivery under pressure there for Lando Norris and he had to because George Russell put in a beauty of a lap with his one shot with Mercedes and he got himself on the front row, there were less than two-tenths between them.

For Lando Norris in tricky conditions when this man looked on edge all throughout the first part of qualifying gets the job done.

  9. Russell takes P2published at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

Sorry, Yuki. George Russell leaves it late after staying in the pits and takes that front-row spot away from Tsunoda.

There's still grip out there and this pole position could be decided by a final flying lap.

I quite fancy Ocon for a front row here, he's going to get two flying laps, he's already got confidence and he's got the clear track ahead of him.

  14. Norris improvespublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November

Lando Norris improves on his provisional pole and the new marker to beat 1:24.092.

George Russell is staying in the garage with the tyre blankets on. Esteban Ocon is on his flyer but The Alpine driver locks up on the slippy track. He can carry on with his lap, and puts in a decent time in the middle sector and stays P4.

Rain rates are 0.1 to 0.3mm/hr. Somewhat heavier rates are to the north, moving towards the circuit and set to characterise conditions for the rest of today... as if we haven't seen enough drama already.

Carlos Sainz spoke on his crash in Q2, he said: "It was the first lap on inters and I clearly misjudged the grip, honestly I haven't been very comfortable in the car in the wet this year for some reason and we were on the limit for the whole session, so I was not enjoying that one.

"We will try and see what we can do for later but clearly a mistake and not very happy."

The jeopardy is through the roof and Albon has just shown hero to zero in a flash, but Norris or Piastri could have had that. All the big guns have been flirting with danger for the entire qualifying.
