Mickey Harte makes 10 Tyrone changes for McKenna Cup final

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has made 10 changes for Saturday evening's Dr McKenna Cup final against Cavan at Enniskillen (19:30 GMT).

Goalkeeper Niall Morgan returns along with defenders Aidan McCrory, Barry Tierney, and Ciaran McGinley.

Danny McBride comes in at midfield while there are starts for Plunkett Kane, Shay McGuigan, PJ Lavery, Paddy McNeice and Ronan O'Neill.

Cavan's starting line-up is unchanged from the semi-final win over Monaghan.

With Terry Hyland keeping faith with last weekend's side, squad newcomers Turloc Mooney, Philip Tinnelly and Kevin Tierney keep their starting roles after impressing in Cavan's three games to date in the competition.

Cavan's McKenna Cup performances to date suggest that the team is building on the progress of last year when they produced a strong qualifiers run to progress to the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Mattie Donnelly is the only Tyrone attacker to keep his place from the side that scored a 2-13 to 1-13 victory over Derry in last weekend's semi-final.

Saturday's decider will be Tyrone's 10th appearance in a McKenna Cup Final under Mickey Harte, winning six to date - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2013.

Tyrone and Cavan's last meeting was in the McKenna Cup Semi Final in 2011 when Tyrone emerged victorious 2-11 to 0-14.

From this weekend's panel, only Aidan McCrory, Ronan McNabb and Patrick McNeice took part in that game.

Peter Harte is the most experienced player on Tyrone's match-day squad, and he will make his 60th inter-county appearance. He made his first start for Tyrone in the McKenna Cup in 2010 against Cavan.

This will be the eighth meeting between Tyrone and Cavan under the tenure of Mickey Harte, with Tyrone having won six and drawn one of the previous six encounters.

The last time Tyrone and Cavan met in a final was in the Division 1 League Final in 2002 with Tyrone claiming their first National title.

They also met in the previous year's Ulster SFC Final, which was also won by Tyrone.
