  1. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -3 (8*)

Brooks Koepka sensibly takes his medicine down the right of the 18th, chopping his second shot back out on to the fairway.

He's left himself 100 yards or so and tries to use a slope behind the pin as a backstop but gives his wedge a bit too much biff.

The hole is in a bit of a valley and Koepka will have to negotiate an uphill start and downhill finish.

    Hovland -1, Morikawa E, Scheffler +3 (7*)

Scottie Scheffler, much like his footwork, is all over the place right now as he has to scramble to make a par on the 16th following that bogey on 15.

It was a wild miss left off the tee on 15 and now he's gone right on 16, but manages to get the ball out of the rough and on the green before holing out from 12 feet for a three.

But the world number one is off sorts again here.

  3. Burns bouncingpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 13 June

    Burns -1 (8*)

Sam Burns day gets a little better with a third birdie on the short par-four 17th, rolling in from four feet.

He's back in the red after a super start to round two.

  4. Pars all roundpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 13 June

    Rahm E, Spieth +3, Johnson +6 (7)

Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth make eight-footers for par on the seventh and now head to the long par-three eighth hole, which measures 299 yards today.

  5. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -3 (8*)

Brooks Koepka was still smiling at turning an almost certain bogey into a birdie on the 17th when he walked on to the 18th tee.

    The smile doesn't last long.

"Fore right" is the call as his ball bends off towards the spectators. It doesn't reach them, plunging deep into the rough and refusing to hop out.

  6. Burns on the movepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 13 June

    Burns E (7*)

Sam Burns is enjoying another good start to a round. The American was three under after five holes yesterday and was still at that score after 14 before dropping five shots in his closing four holes.

Burns has had two birdies and five pars in his opening seven holes today to get back to level par and right in the mix.

  7. Chip-in birdie for Brookspublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -3 (8*)

Brooks Koepka, like all the players, takes on the driveable par-four 17th but fails to find the putting surface. His ball scuds into the thickest of rough and he's on a downslope, with a bunker and more juicy cabbage between him and the flag, which is only a few yards over the sand. It's the kind of shot that we'd all duff into the sand.

Not Brooks though. He bunts his ball over the bunker and it catches in the rough but he fancies chipping in from here. And that's exactly what he does!

That is a huge birdie three given where his tee shot landed. And he's back to two off the lead.

  8. Hatton bogeys sixthpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 13 June

    Im E, Hatton +3, Straka +9 (6)

That shot Tyrrell Hatton picked up on the fifth hole has been given straight back to the course on the par-three sixth.

The Englishman finds one of the front bunkers and he can't save par from there, so he's back to three over for the tournament.

Im Sung-jae does manage to make par after finding sand off the tee and he's still level par.

  9. Double trouble for Lee and JTpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -2, Lee +7, Thomas +11 (7*)

Another par ticked off for Brooks Koepka who lags a 44-foot putt on the par-three 16th to four feet and he knocks that in the hole.

Min Woo Lee is suddenly struggling again though. A missed green and a three-putt from 26 feet adds up to a double-bogey five for the Aussie who is now over par for his round.

And Justin Thomas' race is just about done. A wayward tee shot into the sand also leads to a five.

  10. Spieth's untidy round continuespublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 13 June

    Rahm E, Spieth +3, Johnson +6 (6)

Jordan Spieth is still yet to find a fairway or a green in regulation today. The American's tee shot to the par-three sixth lands in the sand and it's a third bogey of the day for the three-time major champion.

Pars for Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson - none of this trio have registered a birdie so far today through the first six holes.

  11. Bottom of the pilepublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 13 June

    Chandler +20 (9)

Our American friend Will Chandler has reached the turn. If you've been with us for a while, you may recall he was eight over for the day after just three holes.

And while there's no red on his card, there are no more double or quadruple bogeys. Four bogeys and two pars mean he's +12 for the round. Hang in there Will, we're rooting for you.

  12. Hatton birdies the fifthpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 13 June

    Im E, Hatton +2, Straka +8 (5)

Tyrrell Hatton puts his approach to the fifth hole within three feet - a great birdie to follow four consecutive pars for the Englishman, who has been extremely tidy so far.

Sepp Straka matches him, the Austrian producing a pinpoint approach of his own to make three. He'll need at least a couple more of those if he's going to make the cut.

But Im Sung-jae can't get up and down in two from a greenside bunker and he drops back to level par.

  13. Scottie's sweet feetpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 13 June

    Scheffler +2 (5*)

Speaking of Scottie Scheffler, it's still hard to believe his dancing feet when he plays a shot! They say a golf swing is as individual as a fingerprint and Scheffler certainly does things his own way.

    It works though.

  14. Different approachespublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 13 June

    Hovland -1, Morikawa E, Scheffler +2 (5*)

Great drive from Viktor Hovland on 14, but from 56 yards out and on the fairway he probably should do better than knock it to 30 feet - so he then has work to do to save his par.

Scottie Scheffler finds the first cut off the tee, but still does better than Hovland by hitting his approach to just 15 feet - but he too settles for a par.

Just shows you that sometimes you can be too close to the green.

  15. Bogey for Brookspublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -2 (6*)

Brooks Koepka fails to drain his 20-foot par saver on the 15th, so he slips back to level par for the round and two off the lead.

  16. Spieth's troubles off the teepublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 13 June

    Rahm E, Spieth +2, Johnson +6 (5)

Five holes played, no fairways hit off the tee yet by Jordan Spieth - which has contributed to his two-over score so far today.

He pars the fifth hole, as do playing partners Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson.

  17. Hovland still birdie huntingpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 13 June

    Hovland -1, Morikawa E, Scheffler +2 (4*)

Great shot from Viktor Hovland on the par-three 13th which settles about 10 feet from the flag, but this time he can't convert the birdie putt so has to settle for a par.

  18. Lowry’s early practicepublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 13 June

    Lowry +9 (18:25 BST)

    Stephen Watson
BBC Sport Northern Ireland at Oakmont

After a disappointing opening round of 79, during which he was third-last for strokes gained putting, Shane Lowry is back on the practice putting green - more than four and a half hours before his scheduled tee time.

    Shane Lowry
  19. Eagle for Daypublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 13 June

    Day +5 (3*)

Jason Day shot a six-over 76 yesterday but he's gone a little way to repairing some of that damage in round two.

The Aussie drops in a 20-footer for an eagle three on the 12th.

  20. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 13 June

    Koepka -3 (5*)

Brooks Koepka arrives at his ball and surveys the situation. It appears as though it has snagged in the rough at the edge of the ditch, rather than tumbling into the bottom.

And that means he can play it as it lies. He gives his ball a huge thwack and it pops out of the cabbage and scuttles down the fairway but he's still 50 yards short of the green. A delicate shunt forward with a wedge leaves him with 20 feet or so to save par.
