Another fairway found for Rory McIlroy. He's driven it exceptionally this week.

He has a short iron into the ninth but he misjudges it. It's well short and gets caught up in a collar of rough. He looks perplexed.

But his short game has been dialled in this week, too, and he nudges his third up to kick-in distance.

Another par. The world number two goes out in 33, as does Alfredo Garcia-Heredia.

  2. Make that 11 birdiespublished at 14:42 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -15 (15)

I seriously need to find out what Angel Hidalgo had for breakfast this morning.

The relentless Spaniard keeps up his flag-hunting antics with another pearler from the rough into the 15th.

Seven feet for his 11th birdie of the day. Will it drop? It sure does and he leads by three!

    He is flying.

  3. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -9, McIlroy -9 (8)

Rory McIlroy is eyeing up his shot into the par-three eighth, but it's long.

He has 35 feet for birdie and he's happy to two putt for par.

Two birdies and six pars. He's not shooting the lights out but he's without a bogey since his 17th hole on Thursday. That'll help.

  4. Saddier drops backpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time

    Saddier -12, Lagergren -10 (6)

Adrien Saddier is faced with a tricky long putt across the sixth green. He gives it just enough speed for it to reach the ridge, but the ball stops around eight feet short.

And he can't sink the par effort! Angel Hidalgo leads by two.

  5. Hidalgo back on the birdie trainpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -14 (14)

Well, Angel Hidalgo quickly grew tired of making pars.

He knocks a lovely approach into the 14th and rolls in the putt for his 10th birdie of the day to move one clear of Adrien Saddier!

He's animated, he's passionate, he makes loads of birdies. A future Ryder Cup player perhaps? He's fun to watch, that's for sure.

  6. Postpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -9, McIlroy -9 (7)

Rory McIlroy missed that opportunity on six. He's given himself another good look at a bird on seven.

No, he's on the move early and it misses right. Another par. No damage done.

And Alfredo Garcia-Heredia drains a long putt for par to stay at nine under! Lovely stuff.

  7. Rafa's making movespublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Cabrera-Bello -9 (11)

Rafael Cabrera-Bello has strung together a lovely run of three straight birdies from the ninth to move to nine under.

Good to see the 2016 Ryder Cup player in form.

  8. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -13 (12)

Angel Hidalgo has just made two pars in a row.

What's going on?! He's not used to that.

  9. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time

    Saddier -13, Lagergren -10 (5)

Adrien Saddier misses a great chance to pick up another birdie at the fifth so he remains tied with Angel Hidalgo.

  10. Postpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -9, McIlroy -9 (6)

Ah, McIlroy can't follow up that superb shot out of the cabbage with the putt. He under-reads his birdie try and it's just a par.

Alfredo Garcia-Heredia drops a shot, so he's back alongside Mcilroy on nine under.

  11. Brilliant McIlroy recoverypublished at 14:05 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -10, McIlroy -9 (5)

Rory McIlroy's in the thick stuff down the left of the sixth fairway. There's water up ahead, but he thinks the lie is decent enough that he can reach the pin from 168 yards.

He certainly can! He produces a brilliant strike, runs the ball up to the back of the green and it feeds off the slope to give the five-time major winner a good look at his third straight birdie.

  12. Ninth birdie for Hidalgopublished at 13:56 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -13 (11)

A bit like his fellow countryman, Angel Hidalgo loves shouting after his ball.

"SIT!" he bellows as he whips his approach into the par-four 11th.

Well, the ball's behaving as it lands a bit long but spins back and he nonchalantly knocks in his ninth birdie of the afternoon.

A stunning exhibition from the 27-year-old.

  13. McIlroy makes his movepublished at 13:55 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -10, McIlroy -9 (5)

Rory McIlroy clips a delightful wedge into the fifth and gets it to check up just behind the cup.

It's a slippery wee putt but it's no bother to him and he moves to nine under with a second straight birdie!

  14. Hidalgo bounces backpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -12 (10)

Angel Hidalgo responds impressively to that dropped shot at the ninth to pick up his birdie four at the 10th and stays within a shot of Adrien Saddier.

That's eight birdies already today for the Spaniard.

  15. Another birdie for Saddierpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time

    Saddier -13, Lagergren -10 (3)

I mentioned Adrien Saddier's beautiful shot into the third a few moments ago. Well, he makes no mistake from short distance and it's a second birdie in three holes.

However, it's another bogey for Joakim Lagergren. He shot 62 yesterday but is two over already today.

  16. Garcia-Heredia makes eaglepublished at 13:44 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -10, McIlroy -8 (4)

What a putt from Alfredo Garcia-Heredia! It's an eagle three for the Spaniard and he jumps up to 10 under, three under for his round already.

Rory McIlroy is unable to follow him in and must settle for a birdie, but it's the first positive deviation from par for the Northern Irishman.

    He's four behind.

  17. Postpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time

    Saddier -12, Lagergren -11 (2)

    How about that?!

Fresh off that birdie on the second, Adrien Saddier steps up to the third tee and plays a beauty, using the bank at the back of the green to feed his ball back down to the cup.

He'll have around three feet to move to the 13 under.

    Joakim Lagergren finds the bunker.

  18. Saddier moves out in frontpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Saddier -12, Lagergren -11 (2)

Adrien Saddier was a model of ball-striking efficiency yesterday. Fairways and greens all the way.

He's started in a similar vein today and duly picks up his first birdie at the second to move ahead of Joakim Lagergren and Angel Hidalgo.

  19. Eagle putts coming uppublished at 13:37 British Summer Time

    Garcia-Heredia -8, McIlroy -7 (3)

Alfredo Garcia-Heredia is struggling with a back injury and is putting on a warming back brace in between his shots.

But he didn't have any trouble moving there! The Spaniard clatters a fairway metal from 268 yards straight into the heart of the fourth green and he'll have a decent look at eagle.

Rory McIlroy is out with a five wood but switches to a long iron. It's the right call as he produces an excellent response. Two putts for eagle upcoming!

  20. Hidalgo's hot streak endspublished at 13:29 British Summer Time

    Hidalgo -11 (9)

Angel Hidalgo's momentum has been halted at the ninth.

He finds the bunker with his second at the par four and isn't quite aggressive enough out of the sand.

He'll have 16 feet for par.

Can he make it? Nope. It's a bogey - he'll be hugely frustrated after that stunning sequence of birdies.
