Zawraq will miss Saturday's Derby at Epsom after failing to recover from an injury suffered earlier this week.

Dermot Weld's colt was fancied to do well in the race, having convincingly won his two starts to date.

But despite positive signs of recovery on Wednesday, a decision to withdraw him was made on Thursday morning.

Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, said Zawraq was "definitely not right" after an early ride.

Speaking on Wednesday, Gold had said of the injury: "Hopefully it's nothing too serious, but we can't think about future plans until we get to the bottom of what is troubling him."

The declared runners in full: Giovanni Canaletto, Hans Holbein, Kilimanjaro, Success Days, Carbon Dating, Golden Horn, Jack Hobbs, Elm Park, Rogue Runner, Epicuris, Moheet and Storm The Stars.
