Brown Panther will miss the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on Thursday with a leg injury.
Owned by ex-England footballer Michael Owen, the horse was third favourite behind Forgotten Rules and Mizzou for the feature race on Ladies' Day.
"Absolutely gutted to announce that Brown Panther injured his near fore leg this morning and is out of the Ascot Gold Cup," Owen said on Saturday.
The Tom Dascombe-trained seven-year-old won the Dubai Gold Cup in March.
Brown Panther, bred by Owen, has 11 career wins, including the King George V Stakes at Ascot in 2011., external
