There has been plenty of thrills and spills already at 2025's Cheltenham Festival.

The biggest shock came in the Champion Hurdle. Odds-on Constitution Hill and last year's winner State Man both fell, with 25-1 Golden Ace taking the victory for trainer Jeremy Scott by nine lengths.

In the Mares' Hurdle, Lossiemouth was victorious in comfortable fashion, while odds-on Kopek Des Bordes started off the day with victory in the Michael O'Sullivan Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

You can read all about Tuesday's action in Frank Keogh's report from Cheltenham here.

Delighted winning owner Ian Gosden borrowed a line from a famous sitcom after his mare Golden Ace was a shock 25-1 winner of the Champion Hurdle.

Yes, it had to be...Only Fools and Horses.

"He who dares, wins, Rodney! "You've got to be in it to win it, haven't you?" said Gosden.

Golden Ace triumphed earlier after previous Champion Hurdle winners Constitution Hill and State Man both fell.

Winning trainer Rebecca Curtis on Racing TV: "It feels amazing - it was like looking in slow motion.

"He is such a tough horse. His jumping is quick and accurate and he gallops all day long."

Haiti Couleurs had a great position from a way out, it was never really in doubt. They earmarked this from a long way out and he has performed really well.

A convincing win for Haiti Couleurs after a few fallers late on.

A sixth Cheltenham Festival winner for trainer Rebecca Curtis.

With two to go, Jupiter Allen and Now Is The Hour collided into each other to fall.

Hasthing also fell at the last, but all horses and jockeys are up and okay.

Jupiter Allen leads Haiti Couleurs by a length, but Haiti Couleurs is keeping things competitive and continues to bounce back.

Klarc Kent remains the best of the rest behind the front two.

Favourie Transmission has not looked capable of all too much so far.

Jupiter Allen and Haiti Couleurs are back level, with the latter doing well to make up some ground.

Klarc Kent is on their heels and the remainder of the chasing pack are also in touching distance.

It's a 23 fence race, so expect plenty of change and chaos through this race.

No early front runners after the first few fences.

Jupiter Allen and Haiti Couleurs show early promise.

As far as the bookmakers are concerned, Transmission ridden by Patrick Mullins is the current favourite for the Princess Royal National Hunt Novices' Chase.

A sixth-placed finish last time out sees the more in form Haiti Couleurs, ridden by Ben Jones, closely touted alongside Transmission.

One thing to note of today has been expecting the unexpected. Golden Ace wasn't even fancied by his own trainer, Lorcan Williams, for the Champion Hurdle but saw it home to scoop a jackpot north of £500,000.

The ground was right for Golden Ace today, she was in the right place at the right time.

I wonder with State Man, Paul Townend may have gone to the last fence ultra-positive, ultra-aggressive. Things can flash through your mind. If he has been caught by Golden Ace halfway up the final straight, we would have criticised him.

State Man didn't lengthen like he [Townend] thought.

  17. Can Mullins get the better of the pros?published at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

The final race of day one has been renamed in honour of Princess Anne and is now open to professional jockeys.

But it could be an amateur rider – Patrick Mullins, the son of Willie, in the winners enclosure with the well-fancied Neil Mulholland-trained Transmission.

Haiti Couleurs for Rebecca Curtis and Ben Jones and Resplendent Grey, ridden by Sean Bowen for Olly Murphy are also among the shorter-priced chances.

Watch out too for Hasthing, who was fourth in his first run over three miles at Ascot but trainers Jonjo and son AJ O’Neill will hope the horse, ridden by another son, Jonjo Junior, can improve for that run.

I got the sense that even when they set off, everyone was watching everyone else. I just thought, get on with it.

Constitution Hill was first down the hill, it looked like they were happy with it. But the horse ahead hit the hurdle and it springs back, it looks like that was what happened. I'd like to watch the race again.

Willie Mullins is the only trainer so far with two winners so far today.

He's also had one second and two third, but it could have easily been more.

The prize pot of north of £500,000 in the Champion Hurdle was heading his way, had State Man not fallen at the last.
