The summery weather of the weekend may have been fleeting, but the conditions look good for the opening day of the festival.

Cloudy but dry, with not too much wind. Although if you are at the racecourse, I hope you brought your coat.

There's been weeks of speculation, predictions and previews.

There may be plenty who have opted for cheap Spanish holidays in the sunshine to follow the action.

But for those lucky enough to be here, it's hard to top the sights and atmosphere in this corner of Gloucestershire on this Tuesday in March. This is Cheltenham and there's nothing quite like it.

The roar. The thrill. The drama. There's nothing quite like the Cheltenham Festival.

One of the highlights of the racing calendar as horses, riders and punters descend on Gloucestershire is upon us once again, for what we hope will be four days of exciting action.

    Let's get right to it.
