Arsenal's Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta believes his side can battle through their current injury concerns as they face Premier League games against Liverpool and Manchester United, and an FA Cup tie against the Merseysiders in the next few weeks.

"That happens and we have to deal with it," he said. "The schedule is really busy now - we have some really tough games coming up in the next two weeks and we have to deal with it and do our best.

"We had many options but we are a bit short at the moment but hopefully we can get people back. We can't do anything [about other teams] - it doesn't depend on us. There is a long way to go. Everyone is going to drop points and some will do so at Southampton because it is a very tough place to come. Hopefully we will be fine."

Everton desperately need some good news after their 4-0 Merseyside derby thrashing against Liverpool at Anfield last night - and there may be a little bit of light in the medical bulletin on striker Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku was taken off on a stretcher with ankle ligament damage after team-mate Gareth Barry slipped and slid into him as Steven Gerrard scored Liverpool's first goal.

Reports coming out of Belgium this afternoon suggest the injury may not be as bad as first feared and Lukaku may miss only three or four weeks, although he still needs a second scan to confirm the diagnosis. Now waiting for Everton to deliver the official verdict.
