    More from Roberto Martinez who says he does not expect to add to his Everton squad before the end of the transfer window - despite losing striker Romelu Lukaku for four to six weeks with an ankle injury.

    Martinez has signed forward Lacina Traore on loan from Monaco as well as midfielder Aiden McGeady on a permanent from Spartak Moscow.

    "I don't think so," says Martinez when asked if the club will bring in any new faces ahead of Friday's 23:00 GMT transfer deadline.

    The Fisht Olympic Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies. While there are rehearsals taking place inside, workmen are busy putting the finishing touches to the outside of the stadium.

    Everton boss Roberto Martinez says defender Johnny Heitinga, 30, has had talks with a couple of clubs but "there has been no real solution to his situation".

    "At the moment he hasn't been able to reach an agreement," adds the Spaniard at his pre-match news conference ahead of Saturday's home match with Aston Villa. Turkish side Galatasaray, managed by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, are one of the clubs Heitinga has been talking to.

    Heitinga has made 115 league appearances since joining the Toffees in September 2009 but has become frustrated at a lack of appearances this season.

    While City were finding goals easy to come by at White Hart Lane, fellow challengers Chelsea did not have things their own way at Stamford Bridge.

    Jose Mourinho's side could only draw 0-0 with West Ham and the Blues had 39 efforts on goal, while the visitors only managed one, having spent most of the match defending.

    Afterwards, Mourinho accused the Hammers of playing "19th century football", saying: "The only [other] thing I could bring was a Black and Decker [tool] to destroy the wall."

    Manchester City were the big winners in last night's Premier League action with a 5-1 victory over Spurs at White Hart Lane to go top of the table.

    The only downside for Manuel Pellegrini's men was a hamstring injury to striker Sergio Aguero and he will have a scan later today.

    But afterwards, Pellegrini said he was not surprised by his side's goalscoring prowess - City have scored 68 goals in the league this season and have a goal difference of 42.

    Great Britain take on the United States this weekend in their Davis Cup World Group tie in San Diego.

    The draw takes place at 20:00 GMT today when captain Leon Smith will reveal whether James Ward or 19-year-old Kyle Edmund will fill the second singles role in the tie which is being staged on a clay court built at the home of the San Diego Padres baseball team.

    Smith will draft Dom Inglot into the team to join Colin Fleming in case Andy Murray decides to sit out Saturday's doubles.

    Watford sign Hungary midfielder Daniel Tozser on loan from Genoa until the end of the season.

    Tozser, 28, is a former youth player at Galatasaray and featured in the Champions League for Genk, whom he left two seasons ago and will join from the Italian side, subject to international clearance.

    Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera picks up five wickets as Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by an innings and 248 runs on day four of the first Test in Dhaka.

    Bangladesh trailed by 498 after the first innings following an unbeaten double century from Mahela Jayawardene and tons from Kaushal Silva and Kithuruwan Vithanage gave Sri Lanka a massive advantage and the home side were bowled out for 250 in their second innings after lunch on Thursday.

    The second game of the two-Test series starts in Chittagong on Tuesday.

    McIlroy managed seven birdies and an eagle in his seven-under round.

    Scotland secure their place at next year's Cricket World Cup after a three-wicket win over Kenya in New Zealand.

    Kenya were bowled out for 260 in their 50 overs and Scotland were struggling on 169-6 at one point before captain Preston Mommsen (78) and Rob Taylor (46no) helped them them to victory.

    The finals tournament will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2015.

    A Christian Benteke penalty helped Aston Villa beat West Brom 4-3 in a game where Villa trailed 2-0 early on and Adam Johnson was on target as Sunderland defeated Stoke 1-0 to move out of the bottom three.
