West Brom head coach Pepe Mel believes Ben Foster should be England's number one goalkeeper at this year's World Cup.

Following a four-month lay-off with a foot injury in the first half of the season, Foster returned to action just before Christmas, and is again Albion's first choice.

"For me, Ben Foster is the best goalkeeper in England," says Mel. "In particular, he is very good with crosses. He has no problem dealing with them For me, he should be England's number one at the World Cup, but Hart at City is a good goalkeeper, a good player."

Mauricio Pochettino insists he is happy at Southampton amid links to Real Madrid, although stopped short of committing his long-term future to the club.

Southampton were three points clear of the relegation zone when the former Espanyol boss took control and now lie ninth in the Premier League, just five points off reigning champions Manchester United.

"You all know I am not one to speak about rumours, speak about unrealistic things, intangible things so I really have no comment on that," says Pochettino.

"I also don't like to talk about the future - I am not one to talk about the long-term future. Real Madrid are an amazing club, a great club and you never know what could happen in football, but at the moment I am really happy at Southampton."

More on the managers you wish your club hadn't sacked from our Facebook page.

Jamie Edwards: Martin O'Neill at Aston Villa, he had three seasons consecutively at sixth, since he left/got sacked we have gone downhill.

Johnny Shearn: Leeds United sacking Simon Grayson as manager. Unlike previous managers such as McAllister, Grayson brought stability to the club and we won promotion into the championship. In our first season back in the Championship we finished seventh, one point off a play-off position and the following season Leeds sold/lost the nucleus of the team such as Beckford and Gradel. Grayson was sacked mid-season and Warnock was brought in and thus the regression started.

West Ham's co-owner David Gold claims the club has been forced to take legal action over Andy Carroll's red card because they have no alternative.

Gold tells Press Association Sport: "We are hugely disappointed at the outcome of the process. There is nowhere to go other than to seek some kind of legal redress. It's not ideal, the last thing I want to do is going to some kind of legal issue because I think it is a footballing issue.

"But we are fighting for our lives. If we were mid-table we would probably get on with it but we are fighting for our lives to retain our Premiership status and we owe it to our fans, we owe it to ourselves."
