Borcsok Laszlo: Despite having won almost everything, Real Madrid gave Vicente del Bosque his walking papers in 2003 - cardinal sin. Since then they have been struggling.

Vince Molloy: Sheffield United sacked Neil Warnock and have been in a downward spiral ever since.

Warnock at Sheffield United: December 1999 - May 2007. Games: 388. Won: 165.

Jamie Sheehan: Neil Warnock at Plymouth Argyle Football Club because we got promotion in his first season. Within 18 months we were back in the bottom division again. We never seem to be able to hold onto decent managers, and that has to change if we're going to return to the Championship.

Coaches Rob Penney and Simon Mannix will leave Munster at the end of the season, the club announce.

Penney assumed the head coach role at Munster for the 2012-13 campaign, and will now leave in the summer when his contract expires after rejecting an offer to stay with Munster for another year.

Munster chief executive Garrett Fitzgerald said: "Rob has been a very positive influence on this Munster squad and management and we are disappointed to see him go as we had hoped that he would fulfil his third season. In developing the squad he has highlighted the strength and depth of the Munster panel, with the competition for places as high as ever."

Scotland captain Kelly Brown is dropped for Saturday's Six Nations clash with England at Murrayfield and replaced by Chris Fusaro, the Scottish Rugby Union announces.

Head coach Scott Johnson says it had been a "difficult" decision to omit Brown but that Fusaro's skills as a ball-winner on the deck had been key in the selectors' deliberations.

"Fusaro is picked to do a certain role and we believe there's an opportunity for him to do it," adds Johnson. "England are powerful, they have an edge to their side and are assertive and aggressive. They will probably consider themselves unlucky last weekend but it's not always brute force that wins these games."

More from Michael Laudrup following his sacking at Swansea.

"Of course the obvious highlight during my time in charge was leading Swansea to the first major trophy in the club's history in winning the Capital One Cup at Wembley resulting in European qualification," adds Laudrup.

"In addition, our ninth place in the Premier League was our highest finish in 31 years and the second highest in the club's 102-year history, which again is something which fills me with pride. This season we have all enjoyed the memorable journey in the Europa League where the team will soon face Napoli in the last 32.

"The club has informed me that I cannot visit the training ground to say my farewells to the players so I do that now through this statement. Three members of my staff have also been dismissed. While league results have been disappointing of late, we are still 12th in the table."

Michael Laudrup, who was sacked as Swansea manager earlier this week, releases a statement, via the League Managers' Association.

"I am deeply disappointed to have been dismissed as manager of Swansea City," says Laudrup. "In particular, the manner in which it happened and the actions the club has taken since notifying me in the briefest of letters which gave no reasons why such hasty and final action was deemed necessary.

"I am, of course, taking legal advice and the LMA have already written to the club asking for a proper explanation as to why I was summarily dismissed. Until we receive the response I am unable to say any more about the termination but I do want to take this early opportunity to thank the Swansea City fans for their continued support and say it has been an honour to manage this great football club."

More thoughts on managers you wish your club had never sacked.

Mark Gallacher: I'm a St Mirren fan. We sacked someone called Alex Ferguson. He went to Aberdeen and won a European trophy, then he did not bad at some English club.

Ferguson at St Mirren: August 1975 - May 1978. Games: 123. Won: 51.

Ricky Dickenson: I'm an Arsenal fan but Malky Mackay at Cardiff should never have been sacked in my eyes. Look at what he did at Cardiff, he got them promotion.

"I am an enormous fan of Kevin Pietersen and I have had some of my most enjoyable times watching him tonking the ball all over the park," said Cameron. "His average is remarkable. But I will let the England selectors pick the England team, I think I had better stay out of this one."

Premiership Rugby say they will take legal advice over a breach of contract, after the current organisers of the Heineken Cup decided not to release tournament funds on Wednesday

European Rugby Cup owe the English clubs £1.6m, and the Welsh regions £800,000, but said they will delay the payments for another two weeks.

Premiership Rugby are looking to establish a new European Cup away from ERC, and believe this latest move "inflames the issues." If no resolution over a European Cup is found shortly, the English clubs and Welsh regions will look to set up an expanded Aviva Premiership in time for next season.
