    "I've enjoyed it and perversely I've enjoyed the pressure. I'm not sure I could do without it now," Sherwood says.

    "It's been a baptism of fire, to be honest. It's certainly one I've relished.

    Lotus driver Pastor Maldonado has cleared the air with Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez in the wake of their spectacular crash in Bahrain on Sunday.

    Maldonado ran into the side of Gutierrez on lap 40, sending his car into a somersault from which he was fortunate to escape without injury and was given a 10-second stop-go penalty and will drop five places on the grid for next weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

    "We have been in touch," said Maldonado. "It was a misunderstanding from both sides. He was out of line in the entry of the corner, and I was completely committed to the corner. He said he didn't see me, and I didn't expect him to turn in."

    Stoke City boss Mark Hughes tells his media conference that his side's Premier League clash with Newcastle is a chance for his players to make amends for their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.

    "I came away from Chelsea incredibly disappointed. A number of players were below their best but they're itching to get things right," Hughes says.

    "A lot of people may look at the game between two mid-table sides and not think there is much importance to it.

    "For us though, that couldn't be any further from the truth. We have five games remaining and we want to win all of them if possible."

    Stoke have lost just two matches at home this season (versus Norwich and Liverpool). Their last defeat at home (against Liverpool) came back on 12 January.

    Newcastle thrashed Stoke 5-1 on Boxing Day at St James's Park. It was the first time Newcastle had scored five goals against Stoke in a top-flight fixture since 1969.

    Britain's Sarah Wixey has won a silver medal in the women's trap event at the Shotgun World Cup in the United States.

    The 43-year-old, who will compete for Wales at this year's Commonwealth Games, was defeated in the gold medal match in Tucson by Australia's Laetisha Scanlan.

    Having failed with her second shot, Wixey was on target with her next seven, then missed two in a row. She then made each of her final four shots to tie the match at 12-12, but Scanlan won in a shoot-off.
