Will Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti be returning to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League semi-final? The 54-year-old Italian won the Premier League and FA Cup double in 2009-10 while in charge of Chelsea.

Real Madrid are in their fourth straight Champions League semi-final, but reaching the final has proved more difficult exiting at this stage to Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona in their last three.

Can Ancelotti, who has won the European Cup twice as a player and manager with AC Milan, help the 10-time European champions to their first Champions League final since 2002?

Uefa say that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan from Chelsea, will be eligible to face his parent club if they meet in the Champions League semi-finals or final.

Under the terms of the deal that took Courtois to Spain, Atletico would have had to hand over a sizable fee for the Belgium star to play against the Blues but Uefa have rejected that idea., external

Jose Mourinho went sprinting down the touchline to celebrate Demba Ba's crucial second goal in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Paris St-Germain in the second leg of their quarter-final at Stamford Bridge. It brought back memories of a decade ago when Mourinho did a similar thing as Porto manager when his side knocked out Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Mourinho's Porto side went on to lift the European Cup with a 3-0 win over Monaco in the final. An omen for Chelsea fans perhaps? BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty certainly remembers the day when Mourinho announced himself to English football.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may claim he is not concerned who his side draw in the Champions League semi-finals [see 10:14 entry]. But the 51-year-old's managerial record against Pep Guardiola suggests he could do with avoiding Bayern Munich in the last four draw. Mourinho has won just three out of 16 duals with ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola, and has already lost once to Bayern this season - in the Uefa Super Cup.

Chelsea are in the last semi-finals of the Champions League for the seventh time in 11 seasons and they boast a respectable European record against all of the teams they can draw in the last four in previous meetings.

They are unbeaten in three meetings with Real Madrid with two victories and a draw, and have won one, drawn one and lost one against both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich. Of course their most memorable game against the German club came in the 2012 final when they won 4-3 on penalties at the Allianz Arena.
