    Kenya's Hellen Obire stuns the field by winning the 3000m in a massive personal best time of 8.20.68. Obire, who beat her previous best by 14 seconds, becomes the fifth fastest 3000m runner in history with race favourite, Ethiopia's Genzebe Dibabe, left trailing in sixth. That is just about that from Doha.

    Garry Monk says he feels "honoured" to be Swansea City's permanent boss but is not daunted by the task ahead of him.

    The 35-year-old was confirmed manager on a three-year deal following a spell in interim charge.

    His first game in full-time charge will be Sunday's final game of the Premier League season at Sunderland.

    "It is something I have always dreamed about doing. I didn't expect it to come this soon, and it is an opportunity I intend to take," he said.

    England make 167-6 against Scotland in the one-day international at Aberdeen on Friday after rain before and during their innings reduced the match to a 20 overs per side contest.

    Ian Bell top-scores with 50 and England captain Alastair Cook makes 44 after the visitors lost the toss.

    Somerset seamer Josh Davey led Scotland's attack with three wickets for 28 runs, including two in two balls in the final over. Scotland are set an adjusted target of 173 to win under the Duckworth/Lewis method for rain-affected matches.

    Europe's Ryder Cup hero Martin Kaymer extended his lead with a second round of 69 in the Players Championship at Sawgrass.

    Kaymer held a two-shot advantage overnight thanks to his course record-equalling 63 on Thursday and is five clear of the field after posting a halfway total of 132, 12 under par.

    The Spaniard, 27, extended his eight-year unbeaten run against Berdych with a comprehensive 6-4 6-2 victory.

    Nadal will meet compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut or Colombia's Santiago Giraldo in the last four on Saturday.

    The 26-year-old finished 15th and eighth in Friday's two races to build an unassailable 34-point lead going into Saturday's 10-boat medal race.

    Scott maintains his unbeaten run in regattas since returning to full-time Olympic Classes sailing in September.
