  1. 'Everything feels over-tired' - Graingerpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2014

Olympic rowing champion Katherine Grainger, back in training after two years away from the sport, spoke to Radio 5 live earlier about how tough it is.

"The most obvious thing is - and I don't know whether it's an age thing or having the break - everything feels over-tired," said Grainger, who will be 40 when the next Olympics take place in Rio.

" I used to be able to do 100 things at once and burn the candle at both ends but now, just training seems to be enough for me in a day.

"It's quite a punishing routine and I think your body just takes time to adjust. Hopefully that will come in the next few weeks."

Grainger won gold with Anna Watkins at London 2012.

  2. New Zealand on toppublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2014

Tom Latham scored his second century in successive Tests as New Zealand enjoyed a good start to the second Test against Pakistan in Dubai.

Latham was unbeaten on 137 - eclipsing the 103 he made in the first Test defeat, which was his maiden international hundred - as New Zealand finished the opening day on 243 for three after winning the toss.

New Zealand will be delighted to have made their opponents work hard in the field having suffered badly at the hands of the Pakistan batsmen in the first Test, which the Black Caps lost by 248 runs.

A good Test is in prospect then, though judging by his photo there may still be a few tickets available...

  3. From footie highlights to long-lost unclepublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2014

Match of the Day 2 is not, as a rule, used for tracking down long-lost war heroes. Until now.

Watching MOTD 2's roll call of footballers who had died in action during World War I, former Manchester City midfielder Paul Lake noticed a George Lake on the list.

Wondering whether it might be a family member he had never known about, Lake delved deeper and discovered, much to his amazement, that it was. George - who played for Chelsea - was his Great Uncle.

"As far as I knew I hadn't any footballing ancestry, no one in the family had ever mentioned anything," said Lake.

Amazing what Match of the Day can lead to. Read the full story via Paul's Twitter account., external

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan was non-committal when asked about former FA chairman David Bernstein's call for a European World Cup boycott: "I would need more time to think about that. I can only answer things I know anything about. No comment on that just now. My mind's not round that to be honest.

But he had more to say on the prospect of the Scotland-England match becoming a regular international fixture: "We need to keep up the standard. You can only play it if the public want it. People said it was some sort of bloodbath. It wasn't. People were going toe-to-toe and respecting each other. It was a game played in the right manner.

"There were bumps and bruises but as long as they were fair challenges, you have to deal with that. I thought it was played in a terrific spirit and I know it will be the same tomorrow night."

  12. Scotland press conferencepublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2014

There were one or two bumps this morning, but they'll just get on with it. I would love to give everyone experience of playing but I want to win as well."

"If we win, it means I can go back to Hull with a smile on my face and have the bragging rights. If we can beat England as well as Ireland then they'll be a big smile on my face."

Kenwright told Sky Sports News: "I'm a big fan of Roy Keane's but he does say some stupid things.

"That is just totally, totally unfair. We absolutely love our players going on international duty. We never ever get in the way of them and Roberto Martinez will be as shocked as everyone at Everton."

"Of course Croatia will face sanctions, but there is no reason for any point deductions," said Kovac.

"This is not the real image of Croatia, Croatians are honest people that respect other nations, while this kind of behaviour leads nowhere."

Croatian midfielder Luca Modric hit out at his own fans, saying: "I do not know why they continue to behave like this. It's madness."
