    The chief executive of cricket's law makers, the Marylebone Cricket Club has been a guest on the BBC's Test Match Special today and says there are not likely to be changes following the death of Phillip Hughes, who was struck by a short-pitched delivery in a Sheffield Shield match in Sydney.

    Derek Brewer said: "As far as the laws are concerned - it's law 42 which is the law which covers intimidatory bowling - there are no plans, certainly at the MCC, to amend that.

    "I think the view that we hold is held widely within the organisation, and it's that there is quite significant opportunity for the umpires it intervene should the need arise, and plenty of empowerment for them. So in that respect it's certainly our view at the moment is that's not something we're going to amend."

    England captain Chris Robshaw will be unavailable for Saturday's European Rugby Champions Cup match against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium because of a shoulder injury.

    Robshaw will have further assessments with a specialist and a further update is expected from Harlequins towards the end of the week. Nick Evans is also out through injury for Quins this weekend.

    Former Newcastle United striker Faustino Asprilla says he will leave his home city in Colombia after being threatened by a gang of armed criminals trying to get money from him.

    Asprilla said masked men entered his homestead on the outskirts of Tulua in southwest Colombia where he had been living with his family.

    "They threatened me," he says. "They told me to contact their chief because if I didn't they would kill my family and me."

    Hereford United and majority shareholder Alan McCarthy are suspended from all football and football activity with immediate effect, after failing to comply with the orders of the Independent Regulatory Commission.

    The club was thrown out of the Football Conference in June over unpaid debts and now plays in the Southern Premier League.

    A draw for Leonid Slutsky's side in Munich would mean City need to win in Rome to go through. But a score draw would be enough for Pellegrini's team if CSKA lost.

    Pakistan's suspended all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will be sent to Chennai in India for remedial work and tests on his bowling action which was declared illegal this week.

    Pakistan are also without spinner Saeed Ajmal, who is also suspended for an illegal action, but both players were included in their preliminary 30-man World Cup squad in the hope they will receive clearance in time for the tournament, beginning in February.

Seamer Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 6-47, the first five-wicket haul by an England bowler in Sri Lanka. Kumar Sangakkara top-scored for Sri Lanka with 91 containing 10 fours.

    Swiss champions FC Basel celebrated their Champions League group-stage progression at Liverpool by taking a cheeky swipe at a host of their recent English victims.

    The Swiss Super League outfit drew 1-1 at Anfield to take four points from Liverpool in Group B, beat Chelsea twice in last season's competition and dumped Tottenham out of the 2012-13 Europa League.

    The hat-trick of successes over three of England's biggest club's prompted a witty Instagram, external post containing cartoon caricatures of a player from each of the London clubs carrying away a dizzied Liverpool counterpart.

    Bolton forward Eidur Gudjohnsen says being back at the club after 14 years feels like coming home.

    The 36-year-old Iceland international has rejoined Bolton following a trial, having scored 27 goals for them between 1998 and 2000 before joining Chelsea for £4m, and could make his second debut against Ipswich on Saturday.

    "The opportunity came up and I couldn't find one negative reason not to, so it was a very simple decision really," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

    "It's a little bit like going back in time, but it's still got the friendly atmosphere as I remember it."
