    Rangers and Mike Ashley have been accused of breaching several Scottish Football Association rules relating to his dual interest in Rangers and Newcastle.

    Ashley owns 8.29% of the Ibrox club and he has an agreement in place with the SFA that he will not increase that shareholding to above 10%.

    Both Rangers and Ashley have been issued with a notice of complaint. The case will be heard on 27 January.

    Birmingham City's teenage forward Demarai Gray is keen to build on the feeling of local pride he got from registering his first professional hat-trick.

    The 18-year-old claimed a treble in the space of 34 first-half minutes in Saturday's 6-1 thrashing of Reading.

    "It was a nice feeling for myself," he told BBC WM.

    "I'm a Birmingham boy and I've been at the club since I was 10. I know fans like to see local players and playing for the Blues' first team means everything to me."

    United States defender DaMarcus Beasley has announced his retirement from international football.

    Beasley, 32, has been capped 121 times and is the only player to represent the USA at four World Cups.

    Kevin Pietersen has been released by his Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils.

    Pietersen, 34, captained the side in last year's competition, but was unable to prevent them from finishing bottom of the table.

    The Daredevils have decided to release 13 players from their 2014 squad, including New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor and South Africa all-rounder Wayne Parnell.

    British Skeleton has withdrawn Lizzy Yarnold from the season's second World Cup in Calgary under medical advice.

    Olympic champion Yarnold experienced some symptoms of dizziness during her victory at the season opener in Lake Placid on Friday.

    She said: "I'm naturally disappointed not to be able to race on Friday. I enjoyed getting back into the mindset last week and winning.

    "I felt dizzy at the end of the first run in Lake Placid, but felt okay before the second run and knew that I could go for it but in our sport where we are travelling at such high speeds these things happen and we have to look after ourselves."

    Mignolet was left out of the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers saying the Belgium international was dropped "indefinitely".

    They claim Supporters in the Scoreboard End unfurled a banner, reading: "Au revoir Gerrard, Come back when you've won one," accompanied by a silhouette of the Reds captain's fateful slip against Chelsea last season. But that it was removed by stewards.

    Chesterfield admitted breaching competition rules after fielding an ineligible player, Georg Margreitter, in their 1-0 win at MK Dons on 6 December.

    Margreitter - on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers - played in the fixture without the FA receiving written permission in advance.

    The FA has ordered the tie be replayed to a finish, without a replay, at the earliest possible opportunity.

    Chesterfield had been drawn against away to either Scunthorpe or Worcester City in the third round.
