    The Olympic mascot will be called Vinicius and the Paralympic mascot Tom.

    The names were chosen by a public vote and pay tribute to Brazilian musicians Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim.

    Prime Minister Matteo Renzi confirmed its interest as a candidate city earlier.

    Kenya has also emerged as a potential bidder. The 2024 host will be announced in 2017.
