The Times meanwhile leads on England's humiliating Cricket World Cup exit - and reports that coach Peter Moores is fighting to save his job (not for the first time).

"Moores was clinging to his job last night," the paper's Richard Hobson writes. "Although the reaction of [ECB managing director] Paul Downton was to stand by his man, Moores should not take that as a sign that his job is safe."

  2. Di Maria has 'no excuses'published at 08:42 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2015

Let's have our customary round-up of this morning's back pages, beginning with the Mirror.

They lead on Arsenal's FA Cup win over Manchester United, with Danny Welbeck and red-card villain Angel di Maria getting equal top billing.

The paper quotes, external United manager Louis van Gaal as saying: "I think he's touched the referee and that's forbidden in every country, so he has no excuses."

There's also a mention of Ian Botham's verdict on the England cricket team following their elimination from the World Cup. as you can see, it's fair to say Beefy doesn't pull any punches.

"A bright sunny start to the day in Cheltenham as the racecourse prepares for an influx of 230,000 punters for its four-day Festival.

"Anticipation is building for day one of the meeting which sees the crowd give the 'Cheltenham Roar' as the horses set off in the opening Supreme Novices' Hurdle at 13:30 GMT."

We'll be bringing you updates from Cheltenham throughout the day, as AP McCoy makes his final appearance at the Festival.

  4. India beat Ireland at World Cuppublished at 08:28 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2015

Now then, news of a breaking Cricket World Cup result to bring you. I'm afraid it's bad news for Ireland, who have fallen to a perhaps expected defeat against unbeaten India.

Ireland put up a decent score of 259, with Niall O'Brien hitting 75, but India chased down the target with ease, as Shikhar Dhawan cracked his second century of the tournament.

Ireland would have qualified for the knockout stages had they managed to pull off an upset - instead it looks like their quarter-final dreams will hinge on the result of their final game against Pakistan.

  5. Van Gaal must get time - Keanepublished at 08:21 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2015

    Roy KeaneImage source, Getty Images

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says manager Louis Van Gaal must be given "two or three years" to rebuild the club, following the FA Cup defeat by Arsenal.

Keane said on BBC Match of the Day: "They should have given David Moyes more time but didn't. What are they going to do? Chop and change again? Van Gaal has been in the door two minutes. It takes time. It's literally a rebuilding job.

"It would be a disaster [if United don't finish in top four]. The big problem with people at the club and ex-players is they keep looking back comparing teams from 10 years ago. They have got to look forward. Focus on the players, focus on the manager... get right behind him. I still think they have enough to get in that top four."

Don't worry Manchester United fans, we'll be giving you your chance to weigh in on that topic in due course!

Bagging the winner against your former club. When you've been written off and cut loose by your boyhood team, can there be any better feeling?

Danny Welbeck certainly celebrated like he meant it last night, and why not? His winner for Arsenal against Manchester United keeps the Gunners in the trophy hunt this season.

Spare a thought for United manager Louis Van Gaal though - the man who reportedly sanctioned Welbeck's sale. Where does he go from here?
