Kell Brook has the potential to be the biggest fighter in Great Britain, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

The unbeaten 28-year-old defended his IBF world welterweight title on Saturday with a fourth-round victory over Romanian Jo Jo Dan.

Britain's Carl Froch, 37, the super middleweight champion of the world, has suggested it is likely he will hang up his gloves this year.

"Carl was there on Saturday and when he retires Kell is the perfect replacement as the star of British boxing," Hearn told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"I think Kell's virtually there at the moment. There are no other British fighters out there who have beaten the best in their division so it's there for Kell to take. What a future he has ahead of him."

Not everyone is delighted by the news that Newcastle made record profits in 2013-2014.

Norman Watson, chairman of the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust, tells BBC Sport: "None of this profit is being reflected on the pitch. The club went nearly 18 months without signing a full-time professional player on a permanent deal.

"Fans want to see money invested in the playing staff. Before the Arsenal match we had only 13 fully fit first-team players - the squad is extremely thin on the ground."

Newcastle sold France midfielder Yohan Cabaye to Paris St-Germain in a £19m deal in January 2014.

During the 2013-14 financial year, the club signed three players - France striker Loic Remy and Netherlands attacker Luuk de Jong on loan, along with teenage French midfielder Olivier Kemen for an undisclosed fee.

    Talk about embarrassing.

Organisers of a friendly match between El Salvador and Argentina have had to apologise for wrongly playing the national anthem for the Isle of Man.

El Salvador fans whistled in disgust and their players were left baffled as the wrong anthem was played before the game in the United States on Saturday.

CMS Sports said it took "full responsibility for the honest mistake".

  6. Keane's Euro warningpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

Robbie Keane warns the Republic of Ireland's Group D rivals that they will fight until the last second of the campaign to secure a place in the Euro 2016 finals.

Substitute Shane Long's 91st-minute strike at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday evening denied leaders Poland victory and secured a 1-1 draw and a potentially precious point for the Republic.

Keane said: "It will give us confidence going into the next game, knowing that we can keep going and fighting until the very end and get something out of the game."

  7. Second chances hard to come bypublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

Former England and Liverpool winger John Barnes says black managers struggle to find a new job after being sacked by a club.

The 51-year-old, who has managed Celtic and the Jamaica national team, has not had a coaching job since being fired by Tranmere in October 2009.

"A white manager loses his job and gets another job, he loses his job, he gets another job," Barnes said.

"Very few black managers can lose their job and get another job."

Lord's Cricket Ground's weathervane, Father Time, has been damaged during high winds in London over the weekend.

It now sits at almost 90 degrees to its original position. Staff from Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns Lord's, are working with specialists to restore it to its original position as soon as possible.

This is not the first time the weathervane has fallen foul of the elements: in 1992 it was struck by lightning and the subsequent repairs were featured on Blue Peter.

  11. Euro 2016: what do Wales need to qualify?published at 12:54 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

Group B table as it stands

Story so far: Wales are undefeated with three wins and two draws, having already navigated Andorra's artificial pitch and a visit to group favourites Belgium before Saturday's trip to early leaders Israel.

They came through that latest test with flying colours and now lead Group B. Gareth Bale seems determined to play at a major tournament - the Real Madrid star was instrumental again for his nation in the victory in Haifa.

The next hurdle: The challenge now for Chris Coleman and his team is to keep up the high standards they have set themselves. Next up is a home tie with a talented Belgium team, who many fancied to top the group.

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey: "We'll be looking forward to Belgium. It's a tough game but we are full of confidence at the moment. We are top of the group, so why can't we win the game?"

    About time Spurs...

The club's record goal scorer Jimmy Greaves will be inducted into their Hall of Fame in May.

With 266 goals in 379 appearances in the league, FA and League Cups and Europe, perhaps the biggest surprise is that it has taken this long for Greaves to make it.

It will be the first time the former England striker has returned to White Hart Lane - bar a couple of media appearances - since he left in 1970.

The ICC has selected its Team of the Tournament for the Cricket World Cup, and it provides some consolation for losing finalists New Zealand, who have five players in the team.

Captain Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptill, Corey Anderson, Daniel Vettori and Trent Boult all make the cut, along with Australian trio Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc, South Africa's AB De Villiers and Morne Morkel, and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara.

Interestingly, the team selected by the ICC is exactly the same as the XI named by the BBC's Test Match Special pundits.

"You'll find me about the grounds and clubhouse throughout the day, hopefully with a pint in hand," said Cavill.

  17. Euro 2016: what do Scotland need to qualify?published at 12:08 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

    BBC SportImage source, .

Story so far: Scotland emerged from their first qualifier without a point but plenty of positives, pushing world champions Germany all the way before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat.

They have built on that display admirably, beating Georgia and the Republic of Ireland 1-0, either side of a 2-2 draw in Poland - a nation that turned out at the last two European Championship.

On Sunday, Gordon Strachan's side maintained their momentum with a 6-1 win over Gibraltar. Steven Fletcher ended a six-year goal drought with a hat-trick - but only after the visitors had stunned Hampden by equalising.

The next hurdle: A September double-header against Georgia and Germany is on the horizon but before that is the mouth-watering prospect of facing the Republic of Ireland in June. It is a match neither can afford to lose if they are realistic about challenging Poland and Germany for the top two qualification slots.

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan: "I'm upbeat because after five games in a real hard group, to be where we are is not bad."

  18. Hernandez frustrated at Realpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

On-loan Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez says he's growing frustrated with his lack of playing time at Real Madrid.

In an interview with Fox Sports to be broadcast this evening, Hernandez complains: "I cooperate, I help and give my 100% in training but in the games the opportunities are slim."

Hernandez has scored three goals in just 13 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, but the Mexico international served up a reminder of his prowess in front of goal by bagging the winner in yesterday's friendly against Ecuador.

  20. Get Involvedpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 30 March 2015

Today we're asking whether all four home nations can make it to Euro 2016...

Ian Evans: Wales and N Ireland won't have a better chance. Scotland need to perform at home against Poland and Germany, that is a really tight group. England would have struggled massively had they been in that group.

Marcus Gardner: I can't see Scotland or Republic of Ireland getting through that group, Poland have been outstanding so far, but I hope I'm wrong.

Max Baggins-Craig: Scotland pulling it off (if they can keep Republic of Ireland at bay), England & Northern Ireland easily, Wales to go through, pending Gareth Bale.
