    Some heart warming news from the East of England. Ipswich Town left-back Tyrone Mings, 22, published a text message exchange between him and his mother on his Instagram account.

    His mother thanked him for wiping "all my debt away", with Mings replying she deserved "every penny" and saying: "This is why I do it."

    A club spokesman said it was a "private matter between Tyrone and his mum".

    The Masters may be the golfing major we so often associate with sun-soaked fairways but this year may be different (at least until Sunday). Forecasters are predicting rain and possibly some thunderstorms on the first three days.

    Those not looking at the skies are either focused on Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy's attempt at a Grand Slam of majors.

    Veteran defender Sonia Mkoloma has been named in England's interim head coach Tracey Neville's first England squad.

    Mkoloma, 36, has not represented her country since 2011, but has been included to face Trinidad & Tobago in a three-match series in May.

    Neville is without players from teams in the ANZ Championships in Australia and New Zealand - including defender Geva Mentor and shooter Jo Harten.

    The qualifiers for the World Championship are currently taking place at Pond's Forge, as 128 players battle it out to grab 16 places at the main stage at the Crucible.

    In the best-of-19 first session, Indian Open winner Michael White - his first ranking tournament victory - came from 4-0 down to lead Steven Hallworth 5-4, while Welshman Jamie Jones leads Ashley Carty 8-1.

    Ex-Tottenham captain Gary Mabbutt has revealed he cannot kick a ball or run again after surgery to save his leg.

    Mabbutt, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a teenager, underwent a five-hour operation to replace the main artery in his left leg in 2013.

    The 53-year-old's diabetes triggered peripheral arterial disease, which blocked the blood vessels in his leg.

    "I can no longer do any sport or go running, and my life is now a lot more sedentary," he told BBC Radio 5 live.

    Olympic women's pairs champion Helen Glover says she would consider changing boats after the 2016 Rio Olympics.

    Glover won gold with Heather Stanning at London 2012 and is preparing for next month's European Championships.

    "I would like the opportunity to maybe branch out and try a different boat," Glover, 28, told BBC Radio Cornwall.

    "But that would need some careful consideration as to whether I was going to continue after Rio, as I don't see myself moving boats before Rio."

    QPR defender Clint Hill - at the tender age of 37 - scored his first Premier League goal during his side's 3-3 draw at Aston Villa on Tuesday.

    "I'm glad I've got the goal because it's been bugging me for a number of years," says Hill.

    "I'm 37-years-old and you don't think you'll get to play another Premier League game. I'm glad that's off my back and I'm glad I played my part."

    Catalans Dragons back-rower Elliott Whitehead will leave Super League at the end of the season to join NRL club Canberra Raiders.

    The Bradford academy product enjoyed a fine 2014 campaign, scoring 18 tries in 27 appearances to earn a place in the Super League Dream Team before making his England debut in the Four Nations.

    "After enjoying two-and-a-half years here in France, I have been given the opportunity to go and play in the NRL next season which I have always wanted to do," says the 25-year-old.

    "I would like to thank the club and the fans for everything they have done for me and I'm still fully committed to the Dragons this season."

    Millwall Lionesses boss Dan Mlinar says he is not surprised at his side's unbeaten start to the WSL2 season.

    After draws against London Bees and Everton, Mlinar's side fought back to beat Durham 3-2 on Sunday.

    "The challenge now is putting together back-to-back wins," he told BBC Sport. "We could have more points than we do, having conceded in the last minute against Everton.

    "Between now and June, almost all our games are against teams that will be around us. The Everton game was a bit of a bonus. Our aim is to be top of that 'mini league' in June, and then we will re-assess."

    Leeds and England full-back Zak Hardaker has been fined one month's salary and must take an anger management course after an internal investigation into an assault on a student.

    The 23-year-old paid £200 in compensation and wrote a letter of apology to the student last month.

    Hardaker will also donate one month's salary to charity, take an anger management course and do up to 20 hours a week of voluntary work for the remainder of his current Rhinos contract.
