    Britain's Shara Proctor wins silver in the long jump at the World Championships in Beijing with a new national record of 7.07m.

    American Tianna Bartoletta claims gold with the third-last jump of the competition where she grabbed victory with 7.14.

    Of the other Britons, Lorraine Ugen was fifth (6.85) but Katarina Johnson-Thompson's miserable time continued as she finished 11th (6.63)

    Brentford are expected to complete the loan signing of Red Bull Salzburg striker Marco Djuricin later on Friday.

    The 22-year-old striker only signed for the Austrian champions in January, but has been allowed to leave after they were knocked out of both the Champions and Europa Leagues in August.

    The Austrian scored 17 goals in 36 games for Sturm Graz before moving to Salzburg and has two international caps.

    Some interesting match-ups in the Europa League - and Spurs fans will be scouring all outlets to discover news of Azerbaijan's very own Qarabag.

    Liverpool will clock up a few air miles against Russia's Rubin Kazan but manager Brendan Rodgers will feel confident of getting out a group that also contains France's FC Bordeaux and FC Sion of Switzerland.

    Not exactly a soft landing for Celtic in the Europa League after being dumped out of the Champions League qualifiers by Malmo. It is a real test for Ronny Deila's side in a group containing Ajax, Fenerbahce of Turkey and Norwegians Molde.

    The Portuguese midfielder, 20, spent last season on loan at Lille where he made 27 appearances and scored three goals.

    Lopes, external, nicknamed 'Rony' after his idol Ronaldo, made just five appearances for the Blues since joining the club from Benfica in 2011.

    Britain's Charlie Grice has qualified for the 1500m final in Beijing after finishing fourth in the second of two semi-finals. 

    But there was frustration for compatriot Chris O'Hare who was in one of the five automatic qualifying spots with 100m to go in the first semi-final but was out-sprinted, missing out by 0.08 seconds.
