    Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says a sickness bug has swept through the camp ahead of their game with Sunderland.

    "There are a few players who have not been able to make training. I don't want to tell you who who they are but they're not here today because they are ill," he said. 

    "The doc is having to do some overtime. We could miss a couple and there's a couple who are not well now. I'd rather they weren't well now rather than tomorrow."

    Dick Advocaat holds his news conference at 12:30 BST with many Sunderland fans fearing it may be his last.

    The Dutchman has hinted in past weeks that he cannot be expected to "do the job without the tools" and unless there is some transfer activity in the next few days there is genuine concern that the Dutchman may decide to walk away.

    But one person whose involvement in Beijing is at an end is twice former decathlon champion Trey Hardee who has withdrawn with a back injury.

    The 2009 and 2011 gold medallist injured his left lower back on his final attempt in the long jump, the second event of the two-day competition, and withdrew from the shot.

    "I tried everything to try to make it through but it just wasn't meant to be." said Hardee, who came in to the competition with the year's top score, 8,725 points, and had been aiming for a silver medal behind team-mate Ashton Eaton, the world record holder.
