Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor welcomes the Football Association's decision not to suspend Hull midfielder Jake Livermore: "This was a truly exceptional case and we are delighted that the commission has imposed a just and proportionate sanction in light of the facts of the case.

"It was correct not to follow the express sanctions provided under the FA Regulations and Wada code. As was correctly noted, the emphasis of this case must be to now support Jake."

Welling appeal against feigning injury chargepublished at 17:30

    Football

Welling will appeal after striker Sahr Kabba was the first player charged by the Football Association with feigning injury.

The charge relates to an incident in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Tranmere, when Rovers' Richie Sutton was sent off for an off-the-ball clash with Kabba.

"Reviewing the video footage, there definitely is contact between the defender and Kabba," Wings boss Loui Fazakerley told BBC Radio Kent.

The FA charged Kabba with "allegedly exaggerating or feigning an injury which directly led to an opponent being dismissed" on Wednesday. The rule is new for this season.

    Bournemouth injury newspublished at 17:08

    Football

    Chris Wise
    BBC Radio Solent

"It has been a tricky fortnight for Bournemouth since losing both record-signing Tyrone Mings and fellow new arrival Max Gradel to long-term injuries. £15m worth of summer investment and neither completed 90 minutes of Premier League football.

"The boss Eddie Howe carried his usual unflustered and philosophical approach to the setback – he says everyone now just needs to show the pair how much they are loved.

"The footballing romantic may have had Lewis Grabban returning to Carrow Road as a Bournemouth player this weekend after their strong interest in the final week of the transfer window but the deal never happened. Howe eventually plumped for Palace’s Glenn Murray so expect him to be in the Cherries squad on Saturday."
