Arsene Wenger refuses to be drawn on whether he'll shake hands with Jose Mourinho on Saturday. He tries to defuse constant talk about their uneasy relationship.

"Look - too much attention is paid to it. People come to football to watch football - everything else is secondary," he said.

But his unease is obvious as he's repeatedly quizzed about Mourinho. "I have nothing more to say about this," the Frenchman added.

    Solheim Cup

    Iain Carter
    BBC Sport in Heidelberg

The United States have adopted a lower key approach, trying not to be side-tracked by too much razzamatazz. They’ve ditched the Stars and Stripes face painting and are seeking to concentrate on their golf.

It seems to be working. Morgan Pressel and wildcard Paula Creamer have settled well and going to the turn at one-over-par they have earned a two hole lead over the rather subdued Scandinavians Anna Nordqvist and Suzann Pettersen.

Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson are combining best. They have had three birdies in seven holes to earn a commanding four hole lead on Karine Icher and Azahara Munoz. Europe hold slender one hole leads in the other two matches. It looks like they will have to preserve those advantages.

    Arsena; news conference

Unsurprisingly, more cameras and microphones than usual for Arsene Wenger's news conference ahead of the game at Chelsea.

Suspect Wenger may be a bit prickly as he's quizzed about his uneasy relationship with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and his team selection for the midweek defeat in Zagreb.

Before those Champions League matches, Arsenal were surely favourites to win at Stamford Bridge. But 90 mins later, the landscape had changed.
