All four opening foursomes are out on the course and thankfully it is a bright, clear morning. The last couple of days have been so wet the course is very soft and spectator areas are soggy and muddy - think Celtic Manor 2010.

Wie was due to partner Alison Lee who was not able to practice yesterday because of a stomach bug. US captain Juli Inkster is monitoring the rookie’s progress and the fact that she appeared at the opening ceremony is encouraging.

Charley Hull and Melissa Reid have started best for the home side and lead Wie and Brittany Lincicome 1 up after five holes.
