Aston Villa news conferencepublished at 10:20

Liverpool v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood: "Christian Benteke is a top player. I expected the call to come in the summer. We'd have liked to have kept him.

"Christian's gone, Fabian Delph's gone, Tom Cleverley's gone. They're all established Premier League players. We will now develop what we have. We're a work in progress and we're happy with the squad.

"I get on very well with Brendan Rodgers. I have a lot of time for him. He's probably paying the price for overachieving a couple of years ago. He lost two of his best players - Luis Suarez in particular. He's rebuilding."

Arsene Wenger also skilfully declined to come up with a number when - following Sir Alex Ferguson's revelation this week - I asked him how many truly world-class players he'd managed in his 19 years at Arsenal.

How many of the current squad could be added to a list of Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira etc? We might have to wait for Wenger's autobiography...

Sunderland striker Duncan Watmore has become only the second Premier League player to receive a first-class honours degree at university - in economics and business management.

The first was former Leeds man David Wetherall in 1992 apparently., external

That got us thinking about which sports person would you award an honorary degree, in which subject and why?

Apparently we have a clip of Watmore doing kick ups while answering economics questions coming up later. What a treat...

"I'm never complacent enough to think that it has never been. It's probably what drives a manager on, that fear. Positive fear. Every day you need to be at your best, and when you come into here, into a club of this stature, that is always there. It doesn't frighten me, I have an inherent belief in what I do.

"The idea is that we are constantly rebuilding here. My belief and confidence is there and always has been, but I don't shy away from facts that you need to get results."
