Bosnia-Herzegovina expect striker Edin Dzeko to be fit to face Wales in Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier.

Dzeko, 29, was initially ruled out for four weeks after twisting his knee in Roma's 5-1 over Carpi on 27 September.

But Bosnia assistant coach Dragan Peric said: "We hope Dzeko will be ready.

"He was due a check-up in Rome on Tuesday which included training with the ball and as far as we know, he will be at the staff's disposal for the Wales match."

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini was not too keen on his captain Vincent Kompany joining up with the Belgium national side, considering the centre-back has been out recently with a calf injury.

Kompany will miss Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifier in Andorra on Saturday and will train on his own over the next few days in agreement with Manchester City.

But he will be considered for his country's last Group B qualifier at home on Tuesday to Israel if fit, Belgium football federation officials said.

We promised to tell you the answers later and being true to our word, we're about to do that right now.

    Drum-roll.

If you said Seve Ballesteros, Justin Rose and Ian Woosnam, you were spot on.

Wales' Chris Gunter says the pain of the past is driving the team on in Euro 2016 qualifying.

Chris Coleman's side need only a point from their final two games - away to Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday and at home to Andorra on Tuesday.

At a news conference today, Gunter said: "This week feels different for some people looking in, but the routine is the same every time. We prepare the exact same way whether top or bottom of the group and we are not thinking beyond Saturday.

"We know the potential is there to get the job done on Saturday and only then will we look forward to Tuesday. That's the aim for us and the focus of the week, because when we've had two games we haven't thought about the second one."

New Zealand will be without injured captain Richie McCaw against Tonga in their last Pool game on Friday, but have selected an otherwise strong lineup that includes a 100th Test appearance for Ma'a Nonu.

McCaw has a sore hip, hobbling off during last week's 43-10 win over Georgia in Cardiff with what he said were shin and quad injuries.

    Losing its soulpublished at 16:06

    Formula 1

BBC Sport's F1 analyst Allan McNish has written a fine piece pondering whether the sport is losing its soul.

It begins: "In the last week, there have been media reports questioning the future of the British Grand Prix and the announcement of a 21-race calendar for the 2016 season.

In combination with this weekend's stop on the schedule - the Russian Grand Prix - it is a reminder of the direction in which Formula 1 appears to be headed.

More of the historic European events that reflect the essence of racing are disappearing off the F1 schedule to be replaced by big state-funded projects that fail to deliver the same kind of racing and atmosphere."

Tomas Berdych and Caroline Wozniacki both lost their way in Beijing's choking smog as they exited the haze-hit China Open.

As air pollution hovered at "hazardous" levels - and fans in face masks became commonplace - Berdych was sent packing by Uruguay's 37th-ranked Pablo Cuevas 6-4 6-4.

Wozniacki hopes of reaching the year-ending WTA Finals took a hit as she was disposed of by a determined Angelique Kerber 6-2 6-3.

The French club hoped the ex-Arsenal midfielder could feature in Friday's friendly against Nimes to build match-sharpness before the Ligue 1 season resumes after the international break.

But team doctor Christophe Baudot told the club's website: "We will wait until he is 100% in every regard.

"He is 100% in some areas but not others. A player like him needs to be 100% across the board.

"He cannot play on Friday because he needs to be right physically but also technically. He will train again from Monday through to Sunday."

Leicestershire runner Gemma Steel says she is yet to decide whether she will compete in the 10,000m or the marathon at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The 29-year-old is the reigning European Cross-Country champion.

She told BBC Radio Leicester: "I am sort of borderline going for marathon or 10,000m on the track, so that's the big question at the minute.

"We have now just got to have a chat with my coach and see where I am going with that."
