    Bayern Munich and Germany legend Gerd Muller is receiving treatment for Alzheimer's disease.

    Nicknamed 'Der Bomber', Muller, 70 next month, scored 68 goals in 62 games for what was then West Germany, and netted over 650 goals in his club career.

    He won the Golden Boot for netting 10 goals at the 1970 World Cup and scored the winning goal in the 1974 final, as West Germany defeated Netherlands 2-1 in Munich.

    "Gerd Muller is one of the all-time greats of world football," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

    And some news from the West Ham men's team too... Midfielder Morgan Amalfitano has left Upton Park by mutual consent after falling out with manager Slaven Bilic.

    The 30-year-old Frenchman, who left Marseille for similar reasons a year ago, had signed a new two-year contract with the Hammers in March.

    But he was sent to train with the the youth team in August after angering Bilic and has not played since.

    Blimey, these are not happy times at West Ham Ladies, where captain Stacey Little says she has left the club after being "treated disgustingly".

    The 28-year-old midfielder claimed on Twitter , external that she was suspended for "having an opinion as captain" and had decided to leave.

    However, chairman Stephen Hunt said manager Marc Nurse had deemed Little "surplus to requirements".

    Nurse replaced former West Ham defender Julian Dicks as manager of the Women's Premier League South side in July.

    Fiji ended an encouraging World Cup campaign with a 47-15 seven-try win over Pool A minnows Uruguay in Milton Keynes.

    The biggest cheer of the night  came when Uruguay scored  a try.

    They had not done so in the World Cup since 2003, in a 111-13 defeat by England.

    They managed to end that barren run when hooker Carlos Arboleya battered his way over the line from close range in the opening period, sparking wild celebrations among the Uruguay camp - then, remarkably, they doubled their tally when Agustin Ormaechea crossed the line after the break.

    With two rounds of matches to go in Euro 2016 qualifying, four countries have reached the finals in France, where they will join the hosts.

    England were the first team to book their place through qualification, followed by Iceland, Czech Republic and Austria.

    Jurgen Klopp has asked to bring former assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz to Liverpool as part of his coaching staff.

    Bosnian Buvac, 54, and German Krawietz, 43, were key members of Klopp's backroom team during his time at Dortmund.

    After seven years in charge at Dortmund, the fans displayed this banner during Klopp's final game in charge of the club.

    So, to the situation at Liverpool (I swear I've written that sentence before over the last three days...) where the Reds are "close" to appointing former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp as their new manager on a three-year contract.

    According to BBC Sport's Ben Smith, Liverpool hope to complete negotiations by Thursday and name the 48-year-old German as Brendan Rodgers' successor by the end of the week.
