Brian Davis: I used to write a small blog for an independent UK NFL site. I interviewed three-time Super Bowl winner Roger Craig formerly of the 49ers on the phone for the site and then met him in London when the 49ers played here and we became good friends.

So much so that the first time I went to San Francisco he picked me up from the airport and took me to my hotel. We would later meet up later in my trip and on my next trip too.

Rob Roderick-Zabrocky: The following week Andrew Gale and Dizzy Gillespie got in touch and asked us to come down early to a T20 match, come on to the pitch, meet the players, join in at the toss and get some photos taken and signed memorabilia.

We were also invited to the War of the Roses, where my son was made Fan of the Match, and given tickets to T20 finals day.

If that's not sporting generosity I don't know what is.

A lovely tale if ever there was one - and well done Yorkshire CCC.

    Part one...

Rob Roderick-Zabrocky: My six-year-old is autistic, and he loves cricket. He is normally not very comfortable in large crowds or noisy places, except for Headingley Cricket Ground.

After I took him to day one of the Test v New Zealand this year, I emailed Yorkshire telling them how happy he is when he is there. They responded with an invitation from the chairman to spend the final day in the VIP area with him, the CEO and president Dickie Bird.

We also got to meet the head of Cricket NZ and Colin Graves, we were given a tour of the ground and invited into the pavilion for tea.

Costa to escape punishmentpublished at 10:53

    Football

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will not face disciplinary action after appearing to kick out at Liverpool's Martin Skrtel in Saturday's 3-1 defeat - according to English Football Association sources.

Referee Mark Clattenburg is understood to have seen the incident and opted against issuing a caution, meaning there can be no retrospective sanction by the authorities.

The two players had fallen to the ground after a challenge by Spanish international Costa.

"I think it is a clear red card," former World Cup final referee Howard Webb said. "He commits a foul on Martin Skrtel, then there is a little kick. The second action is a clear act of violent conduct. Diego Costa is a lucky boy."

The day Fergie made Ronaldo crypublished at 10:41

    Football

There's a great read in the Daily Telegraph, who have published an extract from Guillem Balague's new biography of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It focuses on Ronaldo's time at Man United and involves tales of the Portuguese winger having a mirror installed in his locker and falling out with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

One of the best sections recalls the day Sir Alex Ferguson berated Ronaldo after a poor performance.

"In the dressing room, Ferguson could not contain himself: “Who do you think you are? Trying to play by yourself? You’ll never be a player if you do this!”" writes Balague.

"Ronaldo began to cry. The other players left him be. “He needed to learn,” said Rio Ferdinand. “That was a message from the team, not just from Ferguson: everyone thought he needed to learn.”"

Burgess's brother Tom, who plays with Sam's former side South Sydney Rabbitohs, said: "He's probably a bit fatigued mentally as well as physically and at a bit of a crossroads at the moment.

"He's not made any decision as yet, at the moment he's still with Bath."
