Great Britain will be very pleased if this is how the Davis Cup final starts...

Andy Murray has broken first against Belgian, David Goffin in Paris and is fighting hard for a second.

We believe this is called "sending a message" in Murray's language...

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic on returning to Goodison Park, where he spent two years as a player.

"Everton is on one hand yes a special game for me, on another hand not. It's a big game against a good team."

"On the other hand it is special because I played there and enjoyed it there. I played for two clubs here, so it is special, yes."

It's one of the most exciting times of the year (a non-World Cup/Olympic year anyway), so let's celebrate and dubiously link it to our Sportsday discussion topic.

We are looking for suggestions for our Bonfire night XI.

How about Bryan Gunn-powder in goal? Penny-for-the-Guy Whittingham up front?

We're relying on your ever-present wit to come up with some better ones using #bbcsportsday...

Remember, remember, it doesn't have to be football player names.

David Goffin and Andy Murray have been introduced to the thin looking crowd in Paris.

Having been made to walk through an ominous looking hexagonal tunnel that wouldn't look out of place on the Death Star, they get on with the warm up.

Winner of this match will play Kei Nishikori or Richard Gasquet in the quarter-final.

Roberto Martinez also suggested that he won't look to strengthen his squad in January.

"We need to make sure the squad gets reaffirmed with maybe the younger groups to make sure we can get through a 10 month competition," he said. "I wouldn't think winter will be a moment where we'll look to make significant changes."

Roberto Martinez is asked if there is any news on a new deal for coveted defender John Stones.

"It's not the moment to speak about any individuals - I'll carry on that way until there's something else to announce," the Spaniard said.

    Everton news conferencepublished at 09:28

West Ham v Everton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Roberto Martinez reports that left-back Leighton Baines and midfielder Tom Cleverley are back in full training but won't be rushed into first-team action. Baines, in particular, lacks match sharpness so is unlikely to be involved at West Ham.

Costa Rican Brian Oviedo is likely to be out for two or three weeks with a minor hamstring problem, while veteran defender Tony Hibbert should be available again after international break.

West Ham v Everton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Roberto Martinez has taken his seat and is right into talking about the strike partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone.

Thet scored four of Everton's six goals against Sunderland last weekend.

"They are good friends off the field and you can see that understanding on the pitch. They are very different strikers, but they complement each other very well and, going forward, you cannot become a predictable side."

Wales, you are not going to like this...published at 09:15

    Football

    Wales Chris ColemanImage source, PA

Chris Coleman's team have been unceremoniously dropped out of the top 10 of Fifa World Rankings.

Belgium have taken November's top spot, shifting Argentina down to third behind Germany who don't budge from second.

Further down the list, England have somehow moved up one place to ninth, as have Austria (10th).

Wales however, who were eighth in October, have moved down to 15th.

Northern Ireland are up six places to 29th, but Scotland have dropped four to 44th.

Before you ask, we have very little clue as to how they work these rankings out despite many teams having yet to play since the last rankings. Actually, we do have something of a clue but it's very complicated and rumour has it involves a abacus and Simon Cowell's moods...

Everton's 6-2 win over Sunderland will serve as a massive confidence booster but West Ham at Upton Park will be a more difficult test on Saturday.

The Toffees have a great recent record against the Hammers and Romelu Lukaku, who made his debut for the club in the corresponding fixture two seasons ago, has an incredible goal scoring record against them.

Roberto Martinez is due up at 09:00 GMT and we'll bring you the best of it shortly...
