Louis van Gaal remains as convinced as ever his tactics are right for Manchester United, and has told the fans to criticise him rather than the players if they are unhappy with the style of play.

Fans demanded the team attack more during Tuesday's 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow, which ended a run of three goalless draws. The Dutchman though says while the supporters have been fantastic up until now, their frustration could have a negative impact on his players on the pitch, particularly at Old Trafford.

He's urging United fans to support the team, and if they are unhappy whistle him rather than the players, as he is experienced enough to cope.

"I have no plans [to watch]. Maybe I sit in the street corner with my iPad. Maybe I don't even watch the game. Maybe, live scores? Results."

Speaking about his lack of appeal over the one-match stadium ban, Jose Mourinho has told reporters “I know the result of the appeal already. I decided to give up", he said. "It is stupid to fight a fight you know you are going to lose."

Mourinho admitted a misconduct charge over his language and behaviour in the defeat by West Ham on 24 October.

It means that he won't be at the Brittania Stadium for Saturday's game against Stoke.
