Mark: So to play for England you can't play abroad, to coach, you had to work abroad? Interesting policy...

Rich Keohane: Jones is a great choice. So what if he's an Aussie? Wal have a NZ coach & are better for it. Scot & Ire have SA coaches!

Rob: I like Eddie Jones but something is wrong with RFU policy if we can't find a home grown coach.

Adil Rashid will link up with Yorkshire head coach Jason Gillespie at the Adelaide Strikers after being released from England duty this winter to compete in Australia's Big Bash League.

The leg-spinner was not included in England's Test squad for the tour of South Africa in order to develop his white-ball skills ahead of the ICC World T20 in India next spring.

"He is one of the most exciting emerging spinners on the international stage and I have watched him improve and mature year on year," said Gillespie.

"Albion may not have been the Premier League's greatest entertainers so far, but they have carefully compiled a six-point buffer above the relegation zone despite losing their last two matches before the break. They resume with a testing run of games against London clubs: home to Arsenal and Spurs, with a trip to West Ham in between.

"Like all his Premier League counterparts, Tony Pulis will be hopeful all his internationals have returned injury-free, and for the long-distance travellers in particular, not too tired to perform."

If you are just joining us, we started Sportsday a little early today to get things moving around the breaking news that Eddie Jones has been named England head coach.

Did you know Jones gave up a job as a school teacher to begin his coaching career at Aussie side Randwick in 1994?

Success saw him reach the job as national manager in 2001 but a run of eight losses in nine games led to the glum face on the right in this image as he was sacked in 2005.

Happier times arrived recently when he masterminded one of the biggest shocks in sporting history as his Japan side beat South Africa at the World Cup.
