'Hart's injury is not very serious'published at 12:41

Football - Manchester City news conference

Manchester City have lost their last two games to Liverpool and Juventus, while goalkeeper Joe Hart and right-back Pablo Zabaleta have joined the club's injury list.

"Pablo Zabaleta is out for around 10 days – he has the same injury in the ligament in his knee. He needs a treatment now," said City boss Manuel Pellegrini as he prepares his side to face Southampton on Saturday.

"Joe Hart's is not a very serious injury but it is a muscle injury and it is important for him to recover well.

"I never complain about players who are injured - that is why we have a squad. I have confidence in [Hart's replacement] Willy Caballero."

"Back to back defeats by Liverpool and Juventus have made it a week to forget for Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, but his side have already qualified for the Champions League knockout stage and will return to the top of the Premier League tomorrow if they beat Southampton at home.

"That hasn't stopped speculation that City could be lining up an audacious bid to replace manager Manuel Pellegrini with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola next summer, and reunite the former Barcelona boss with Lionel Messi, who would be paid £800,000 a week to make the switch.

"Can't see Pellegrini being happy talking about his own job, but the thought of recruiting one of the world's best players? We shall find out...."
