    Raheem Sterling celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring twice in three minutes for Manchester City in Tuesday's win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

    And then he indulged in a more traditional way.

    He posted a picture of the rather impressive cake creation on Instagram,, external saying: "Best day of my career so far."

    Helen Richardson-Walsh scored the only goal of the match as Great Britain secured their first win in the Hockey World League Final against Australia.

    GB lost their opening game 2-1 against the hosts Argentina before a 1-1 draw with China, while Australia had won their two previous fixtures in the tournament.

    Britain's victory on Tuesday means they are now likely to avoid facing World and Olympic champions the Netherlands in Thursday's quarter-finals.

    Manchester United may have been unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday night but the team are doing better than they were last year, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

    "When you see the facts we went further in the Capital One Cup this season, qualified for the Champions League group," said the Dutchman.

    "We have played all these matches and are still in a very good position in the league."

    United are currently fourth in the Premier League - the same position they finished in last season - and face Chelsea-beating Bournemouth on Saturday.

    Away from football, world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is back in the news again.

    The British 27-year-old has been stripped of his IBF title less than two weeks after winning it.

    Fury had to agree to fight the IBF's mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov but will instead face a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, who he beat on points last month.

    Like the majority of the papers on Wednesday morning, the Mirror leads on Manchester United's Champions League exit.

    United lost 3-2 in Wolfsburg on Tuesday and that result coupled with PSV's win against CSKA Moscow in Group B dumped the Red Devils into the Europa League.
