    We have heard from new Leicester City signing Demarai Gray who has completed his move from Birmingham.

    “It’s been my dream to play in the Premier League since I started playing football so I’m very happy to join the club," he told the Leicester website., external

    "The facilities are great and for a player like me it’s an ideal place for me to improve. Meeting all the staff here, it seems like a nice family place, so I think that’s perfect for me.

    "You can see how well the team has been doing this year and I watch a lot of football so I can see that the way Leicester City play suits my style."

    It means he will be available for Tuesday's League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

    Hundreds of Australian fans paid tribute to cricket legend Richie Benaud during the second day of the third Test between the Aussies and West Indies, reports the Daily Mail., external

    "Attending the first match played at the Sydney Cricket Ground since Benaud's passing in April, supporters dressed in grey wigs, cream suits and carried giants microphones in honour of the former player and broadcaster," the paper says.

    "A total of 501 'Richies' took part in the touching tribute - 501 being the total number of Benaud's Test cap number (190) the Tests he played (63) and the number of wickets he took (248)."

    Well done to those fans, a superb thing to do.

    Laura Robson and last year's Australian Open girls' runner-up Katie Swan have been named in a squad of six players for Great Britain's Fed Cup matches in the first week of February.

    Johanna Konta, Heather Watson and the doubles pair of Joss Rae and Anna Smith are the four most likely to feature in the round robin Euro Africa Zone ties in Israel.

    Robson is not scheduled to make her return from injury until February, while 16 year old Swan is still ranked outside the world's top 500.

    Financially-troubled Bolton Wanderers could sell players to raise funds this month, admits boss Neil Lennon.

    The Championship's bottom side are £172.9m in debt, received a winding-up petition last month, are under a transfer embargo and have paid their players and staff late.

    Owner Eddie Davies will not invest more money while the club is for sale and advisor Trevor Birch talks to buyers.

    Asked whether players will leave, Lennon told BBC Radio Manchester: "I hope not, but that may be the reality."

    England could play their first day-night Test in the Ashes series against Australia during the winter of 2017-18.

    Cricket Australia (CA) say it would be a "natural progression" after hosting the inaugural day-night Test against New Zealand at Adelaide in November.

    "It's on the radar, but we haven't had any formal conversations with the England and Wales Cricket Board," CA chief James Sutherland told ABC Radio.

    "We're going to see more Test cricket played in the evening."

    Andy Murray and Heather Watson won the deciding mixed doubles rubber on a tie-break as Great Britain started their Hopman Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory against France.

    Murray was earlier successful in his singles tie with Kenny De Schepper but Heather Watson's three-set defeat to Caroline Garcia ensured the doubles would be pivotal.

    And the British pair prevailed after recovering from a second-set wobble to win 6-2 5-7 10-6.

    Third seed Jeffrey de Graaf crashed out on day three of the BDO World Championships, while 2001 champion John Walton made a triumphant return to Lakeside.

    De Graaf, 25, lost 3-2 to fellow Dutchman Richard Veenstra in the first round.

    Veenstra will face England’s Martin Atkins, who beat 14th seed Pip Blackwell 3-0, in the last 16.

    Walton dropped only three legs in his 3-0 preliminary-round win over Australia’s Rob Modra.

    An assault victim who died after being attacked on New Year's Eve was the father of footballer Leon Clarke, it has emerged.

    The Bury striker's father, named in reports as 50-year-old Darrell Clarke, died in hospital on Saturday after suffering a head injury at a pub in Wednesfield, West Midlands.

    In a statement, the League One club said they were aware of an "incident" which had brought about the death of the 30-year-old's father.

    The statement added: "As a club we extend our deepest sympathies towards Leon and the Clarke family. Leon will be allowed the time to grieve and will receive the full support of everyone at the football club during this difficult time."
