Manchester City lost 2-1 to West Ham at the Etihad in September but Manuel Pellegrini says his team will go on the attack at Upton Park on Saturday.

"We have a difficult game against a very good team," he insists. "They beat us here at home earlier this season in a match where I think we had 20 chances to score but we didn’t do it.

“I think that our mentality is to be an attacking team – maybe a lot of times you cannot score but we always create chances. If you create chances and score four goals as we did last time, I’m always happy. It’s the best way to win titles."

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores is hoping to recruit more players in the January transfer window. The Hornets have so far signed midfielder Nordin Amrabat from Malaga and goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon from Sunderland.

Plenty more are being linked including Tottenham’s Andros Townsend, QPR’s Matt Phillips and Liverpool’s Jerome Sinclair.

“We are fighting for a couple more but I won’t speak about other team’s players,” said Flores.

“The spine of the team is always the most important. You can build a very good team but if the spine of the team is not good you have problems. The plan was done two maybe three months ago. We know perfectly well what we want from the market. We have a list.”

"Kolarov has a muscle injury in his calf – not very big. I hope at the end of the next week he’ll be working with the squad.”

"Vincent is seeing different specialists to learn more about his injury. He will start working, I hope, next week - we'll see."

"Bony maybe has an injury which is longer than we supposed. I hope next Monday he will start working with the squad."

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores could throw his new signing Nordin Amrabat straight into the team for tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.

Flores has kept a very settled side throughout the season due to the Hornets good form but the Hornets have had a dip and have lost their last four league games.

It is not always easy to predict Louis van Gaal's mood.

Sometimes it is spiky, sometimes evasive, sometimes confrontational. Today the Dutchman was relaxed.

If speculation about Pep Guardiola being sounded out about his job had affected him, it didn't show. If he is bothered by reports he is thinking about quitting at the end of the season, he kept it well hidden.

Van Gaal dealt with these topics in a calm manner.

And in explaining why he is looking for a full-back - senior players are injured and it is too much to expect youngsters like Cameron Borthwick-Jackson to fill the gap long-term, Van Gaal made complete sense.

The problem, he said, was that clubs don't want to sell.

The end of 2015 was not the best time to be a Manchester United fan, as they went eight games without a win.

But they are unbeaten in 2016, so van Gaal was asked if the team was through the worst?

"For me that is not interesting. It is for the players," he said. "They play the game. The pressure is a little bit gone. But it is returning when we lose. We have to win. Our fans expect us to win, especially at home."

Louis van Gaal has responded to reports that he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, a year ahead of schedule.

"I don't think that the press have to help me with my decisions. First they have sacked me. Now they are interfering with my future. I don't have to answer."

He also said there was no uncertainity in the dressing room, despite the club being linked with moves for other managers, including Pep Guardiola.

"Until now. I don't think so. I have a relationship with the players of Manchester United. That is the most important thing.

"Not everything the media are writing is true."

Extensive damage to the playing surface, dressing rooms and offices was caused by December's Storm Desmond.

Carlisle played home games away from Brunton Park while it was restored, in time for Saturday's visit of York.

"There's a massive thank you from me as the head of football for the work they do," Curle told BBC Radio Cumbria.

Man Utd v Southampton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been speaking to the media.

First he was asked if he will be making any signings in January.

"When you see our unluck with full-backs - Valencia, Shaw, Rojo, Darmian, Young. Darmian is now fit but the others  are all injured. I need full-backs. I used youngsters a lot of times," he said.

"[Cameron] Borthwick-Jackson and [Guillermo] Varela are doing great but the level at United is high. It is very difficult for youngsters to do that every week. That is why we have to look for reinforcements. We are looking but the clubs don't want to sell. Everybody thinks it is easy but it is not so."

Norwich v Liverpool (Sat, 12:45 GMT)

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he would not be looking for a quick-fix in the January transfer window.

He said: "The January window is not the best and if you are under pressure then everyone wants prices where you think 'Are they crazy?'

"If you take a new player now we have a day to the next game, four days to the next so it is not a perfect moment."

Liverpool manager Jurgen KloppImage source, Getty Images

"We have to watch the market, to think about what makes sense for us now plus for the summer.

"If we find a solution which fits for both transfer windows, winter and summer, and a player could help us as quickly as possible then of course we would try.

"I have always said we will watch the market and we will see if something happens, there are a few days to go."
