Year of the underdogpublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2016

    Football

To celebrate Leicester City's achievement we are taking a look at four underdogs who upset the odds to secure league titles.

Verona, 1984-85: Currently bottom of Serie A with just one win from 24 games, Verona pulled off a major shock to claim the title in 1985.

They had finished fourth and sixth in Serie A in their first seasons after being promoted in 1982.

A 1-1 draw against Atalanta secured the title with a game to spare, four points clear of Torino with Inter Milan second and Sampdoria third.

It remains Verona's only Serie A title and they ended an 11-year top flight absence with promotion in 2013.

The British Olympic Association has vowed to continue its efforts to send two Great Britain football teams to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Hopes of reaching an agreement to form men's and women's sides for Rio this summer were dashed following opposition from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

But BOA chief executive Bill Sweeney believes it is the organisation's "duty" to seek to resolve the disagreements in time to form and qualify teams to go to Japan.

"Players on both sides have stated forcefully that they wish to be a part of a Great Britain Olympic football team and we have a duty to uphold their request and continue pursuing that," Sweeney said.

Allegri to Chelsea?published at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2016

    Football

    AllegriImage source, Getty Images

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has urged reported Chelsea target Massimiliano Allegri to "think twice" about accepting any potential offer from the Premier League champions.

The 48-year-old coach guided Juve to the Serie A title and the Champions League final last season and the Turin side's prospects of winning multiple cups at home and abroad in 2015-16 are bright.

Allegri's growing reputation - he also steered AC Milan to the Scudetto in 2011 - has reportedly attracted the interest of Chelsea, who are looking for a new permanent manager to succeed Jose Mourinho.

But Marotta insists Allegri, whose contract at the Juventus Stadium expires next year, is already at a "top club". He told Mediaset: "All I can say is that Allegri is already at a top club, so he'd do well to think twice before leaving Juventus."
