    Germany's Pascal Wehrlein is to drive for the Manor team in 2016.

    The 21-year-old, who was the reserve driver for Mercedes in 2015, takes the first of two vacant Manor seats.

    Wehrlein won the DTM German Touring Car Championship in 2015 and has experience of driving F1 cars in testing.

    "Pascal is a sharp driver with a very promising future," said Manor boss Stephen Fitzpatrick. "We've chosen a driver with the talent and hunger to match our ambitions."

    Liverpool's owners have been told that the fight to make football affordable for fans will go on despite the club's surprise reversal on ticket prices.

    On Wednesday, the Fenway Sports Group scrapped its planned top-price £77 ticket and apologised for the "distress caused" by last week's announcement.

    But fans' group Spion Kop 1906 told the BBC that the battle may have been won but the "longer war isn't over".

    Liverpool's dearest matchday ticket will now stay at £59.

    British Cycling has revealed that David Millar, the former British road race champion who served a two-year doping ban, is mentoring its academy riders.

    Miller served his ban from 2004 to 2006 after admitting using blood-boosting agent EPO early in his career.

    The 39-year-old has since returned to the sport and has volunteered to educate Britain's young riders.

    Technical director Shane Sutton said "nurturing an anti-doping culture" was at the heart of British Cycling.

    Olympic bronze medallist Beth Tweddle has taken her first steps since having neck surgery following her fall on Channel 4's The Jump.

    The retired British gymnast, 30, had fractured vertebrae fused together after she was injured while training for the winter sports TV programme.

    Tweddle's parents, Ann and Jerry, said she had "walked a few steps whilst being assisted by the nursing team".

    They added they were uncertain of a timescale for her recovery.

    "But we are confident and if we play like we have done the majority of the season then we have a good chance."

    Nine-year-old George Shaw has had his dream of scoring a goal at the Gwladys Street End come true.

    George, who has cerebral palsy, put the ball into the net recently and then won the club's Goal of the Month vote, which was voted for by Toffees' supporters.

    "I never thought I would win. I thought I'd come close because of all the support I've had but I can't believe I won!" said George when he found out.

    "Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me."

    "I would like to think the players can make a stand for Phil now and do something positive in his memory. That is to survive."

    "It's a hugely sad day for the club. I was very close to Phil. We knew for a while that he was gravely ill but it's still a shock," said Lennon.

    "It's devastating. He's been such a huge figure here for a long time and has presided over some fantastic moments at the club.

    "His heart and soul were here and I don't think any other individual has put as much into the club as what Phil has done."
