New Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson says it will soon be "impossible" for lower-league clubs to reach the Premier League because of parachute payments.

Clubs relegated from the Premier League will receive at least £64m, external over three years from next season.

Teams who spend only one season in the top tier will be given about £51m.

"Looking at a League One team now, if they don't get into the Premier League within the next five years there'll be absolutely zero chance," said Johnson.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea will be using Champions League tales of past to inspire a push for glory this year according to the London Evening Standard. 

John Obi Mikel says winning the competition in 2012, external can help Chelsea in their bid for Europe's most coveted prize.

Meanwhile Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger wants to use Arsenal's 2011 win over Barcelona, external as inspiration for their knockout game next week.

Brentford defenders Harlee Dean and Nico Yennaris have extended their contracts with the Championship club.

Dean, 24, has agreed a new two-year deal which will expire in the summer of 2018, while Yennaris, 22, has extended his stay at Griffin Park until the summer of 2019.

A former NHS boss wants the government to review the use of 3G pitches after claiming rubber pellets on the surface contributed to his son's cancer.

Nigel Maguire says son Lewis, 18, has Hodgkin lymphoma, external after being exposed to the 'crumb rubber' on the surface which gives it more bounce.

Pellets, often made from used car tyres, can contain toxic chemicals.

The Football Association says there are 500 3G pitches in England and added it was "aware of concerns".

The big news for Chelsea is that John Terry will miss tonight's match due to a hamstring injury. Brazil midfielder Oscar (calf) returns to Guus Hiddink's squad, which also includes young defenders Matt Miazga and Jake Clarke-Salter.

Derby are in discussions with Manchester United about the cost of repairs after a large number of seats were damaged by visiting supporters during the FA Cup clash between the two clubs last month.

The Guardian, external reports that the Rams have informed United about up to 300 seats which were vandalised and will request that the relevant repairs, which will run into thousands of pounds, are paid for.

The Premier League giants brought 5,460 fans to Derby for the fourth round tie on 29 January 29, with the damage discovered the next day.

If you wanted to watch Ronnie O'Sullivan in action today I am afraid you are out of luck.

The Rocket, as previously advertised, has absolutely trounced China's Tian Pengfei, winning 4-0 in an unbelievably rapid 38 minutes.

O'Sullivan had breaks of 110, 90, 112 and 102. Pengfei only had one chance at the table and looked absolutely shell-shocked at the end.

Reckon Ronnie was wound up by the criticism he got over the 147 that wasn't? Very possibly. Immense performance from one of the best players the game has ever seen.

They always say home advantage is crucial, writes BBC Sport's Mike Minay, but not in this fixture. Chelsea won courtesy Eden Hazard's penalty in the Parc des Princes back in 2014 - they lost the game 3-1, but a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge was enough to see them through. 

And then last year, the sides drew 1-1 in Paris, but back at Stamford Bridge Thaigo Silva's extra time equaliser for 2-2 in the 114th minute saw the French side progress.

Norwegian teenager Kristoffer Ajer has arrived in Glasgow for signing talks with Celtic.

Celtic have agreed a fee with FK Start for the 17-year-old to join in the summer.

The midfielder flew into Glasgow Airport on Tuesday afternoon to finalise terms and complete a medical.

He won the first frame in eight minutes with a break of 110, wrapped up the second in nine minutes with a 90, and took the third in 10 minutes with a 112.

Serena Williams has withdrawn from her second consecutive tournament, after announcing she will miss next week's Qatar Open because of the flu.

The number one-ranked Williams pulled out of this week's Dubai Tennis Championships on Saturday, also citing illness

"I have come down with the flu and do not feel 100% and I need to take this time to recover," said the American.

Williams last played in the Australian Open final, losing to Angelique Kerber.
