Mauricio Pochettino would reject both Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, according to former Tottenham captain Gary Mabbutt.

"I am convinced he would turn down any advances from Manchester United or Chelsea," said Mabbutt.

"I'm sure he sees this squad of players and what is happening at Tottenham on and off the field and realises these are very exciting times for the club.

"Those people saying he might get tempted away, I would say to them when was the last time Totttenham had a very good chance of winning the title? This side now has that ability to do it, not just this year, but for years to come."

Ronnie 'not broken any rules'published at 09:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2016

    Snooker

Barry Hearn: "There is a thin line between genius and madness, Ronnie lives on that line. It was entertaining but it was a shame.

"A 147 break is special but there are many of them these days. World Snooker now give £5000 each tournament and that rolls on every event and Neil Robertson got £40,000 at the UK Championship last year.

"We never tell players how to play shots and O’Sullivan has not broken any rules. Some have said he has brought the game into disrepute but Ronnie brings the game into fine repute.

"I understand the argument of the fans’ disappointment. But without personality and characters, sport dies. He is the biggest character in the sport. When he breaks the rules, he gets punished, in this case, it was his choice."

Barry Hearn has just been on Radio 5 live to talk about Ronnie-gate and despite being pretty angry yesterday, he doesn't seem too perturbed this morning.

"I love, it, there is no such thing as bad publicity," says the World Snooker chairman.

"He is a genius and no-one is bigger than the game but Ronnie is close because he is a fabulous player and a fun personality.

"In his little head, he thought it would be funny. He is quite dry. The 147 is a the pinnacle but Ronnie has made loads of them, he has got loads of money."

Poor old Ronnie O'Sullivan is getting plenty of flak today.

In case you missed it, the Rocket was on his way to a 147 break but then discovered the prize money for maximum was 'only' £10,000 - and took a pink instead.

"I knew it was £10,000. I could have done it, but I didn't think the prize was worthy of a 147," he said.

World snooker chairman Barry Hearn described O'Sullivan's actions as "unacceptable" and "disrespectful".

Looks like there could be quite a ding-dong ahead.

Barnsley have just put a statement on their website clarifying the situation regarding the recent comments made by David Moyes suggesting Everton paid "just £1.25m" to sign John Stones from the Oakwell club.

"It is incumbent on Barnsley FC to correct such a statement when it is markedly and unequivocally wrong and yet is made by someone that the public might think is authoritative on the subject."

We're not sure if Shaquille O'Neal has ever been to Northampton, or even knows where it is, but he's backing them for promotion anyway.

The retired US basketball star - who stands at 7ft 1in (not relevant to the story but we thought we'd tell you anyway on the off-chance you were interested) - has given his backing to the League Two club in a YouTube clip.

O'Neal, known as Shaq, co-owns an internet radio station in the USA with Cobblers' chairman Kelvin Thomas.

"I just wanted to wish Kelvin and all the Cobblers best of luck. First place is where I like to be and it's great to see you guys at the top," he said. Bizarre.
