Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo,, external Benik Afobe has explained how Robin van Persie helped him as a youngster at Arsenal:
We were both injured at the same time,” said Afobe. “He is a great guy and I have a huge amount of respect for him.
“I remember him saying “live your life right and your time will come. Keep working hard, you’re a good player, you’re strong and quick and you can score goals. Just keep wanting to learn and improve and have confidence”.
“When you are 18 or 19 and you hear that from the best striker in the Premier League at the time, it is great."

David Millar has been on Radio 5 live to talk about being recruited by British cycling to mentor it's academy riders - and he's been searingly honest.
“It's been a bit of a controversial decision in some quarters because I am an ex-doper and I did cheat," said Millar.
"One of the things I'm going to bring is to try and make sure these young guys never have to go through the things I did and make the same mistakes I did.
“I can explain the reasons how I got into it [doping] and the damage it did to me and to others and I don't think there's anymore powerful message than that to be honest."

Here is a warning for anyone who likes raw fish. Tennis coach Nigel Sears believes his collapse at the Australian Open was caused "by a bad piece of sushi".
Sears, the coach to world number 17 Ana Ivanovic, fell while watching the Serb play, while his son-in-law, men's world number two Andy Murray, was in action on a nearby court.
"I really don't think it's likely my collapse was down to exertion," Sears, 58, told the Times., external
"I know I was such big news at home, but it was a really strange one and I'm just really sorry I worried a lot of people unnecessarily. Frankly, now I feel a bit of a fraud."

Newport Gwent Dragons wing Matthew Pewtner has been forced to retire from injury on medical grounds.
A statement issued by the region said the player had failed to recover from a head injury.
"I am devastated," said Pewtner.

The Mirror, external is reporting that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning to make a fourth attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
The 34-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has been targeted by Wenger three times over the last decade.
