England head coach Eddie Jones says his side do not make the grade when it comes to their fitness.

"They're not right for international rugby, that's the distinction," Jones said.

"They're right for club rugby. They can play club rugby 365 days of the year but international rugby is faster, there's more accelerations, the running speed is higher and you need to have a different sort of training for international rugby."

Sounds like there is some hard work ahead for the England lads.

British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton has told the BBC that Sir Bradley Wiggins is not guaranteed a place in British Cycling’s Olympic team this summer.

No-one has won more Olympic medals than Wiggins, but Sutton told the Victoria Derbyshire programme the four-times Olympic champion will have to prove himself at this week’s World Track Cycling Championships in London to earn a place in this summer’s Olympics in Rio.

“There’s six guys in the mix at this moment in time. Brad’s one of the strong guys in that group, but he has to go out and produce - and that will determine whether he makes the road to Rio or not," said Sutton.

“As it sits at this moment in time, yes, he’ll be in the start-up line in London, and hopefully perform there and cement his place for Rio."

Graham Sharpe: Yet another suggestion to create more matches for TV. Ridiculous. I was quite happy when it was one club per country. When were Arsenal champions of anything???

Keri Delaney: The only thing I would change about the Champions League is to just re-rename it the European Cup. It's a joke it being called the Champions League seeing as you only need to finish as the third or best team in the league.

Eamonn Vessey: Define a big club. You can't. My team Villa were a big club once now they're not. So would you give them a place in the Champions League? I didn't think so either. You have to earn the right to be there. Historically Liverpool are a massive club but haven't won the league for 20+ years? If any club finishes in the top four they deserve to be there. End of.

'Takeover means brighter future for Bolton'published at 10:49 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2016

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has spoken of his relief at the club being taken over.

The club, who are second from bottom in the Championship, have agreed a £7.5m takeover by the Sport Shield consortium, headed by former striker Dean Holdsworth.

It follows the High Court's decision to grant Wanderers until 7 March to settle an unpaid tax and VAT bill.

"It's the end of an ongoing saga, it's great news for the club because it's been a struggle on and off the field in recent months," Lennon told 5 live Sport's Mark Chapman.

"We're hoping with this news today that there will be some stability within the club and we're looking forward to a brighter future."

England can use the "hatred" from their Six Nations rivals as an extra motivating factor, says head coach Eddie Jones.

The Australian said he can "feel" the "long-seated rivalry" towards England as they prepare to face Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday (16:50 GMT).

It is his first home match after away wins over Scotland and Italy.

"Maybe Clive Woodward summed it up best when he said everyone hates England - that's true," Jones said. "I'm not going to use it, but within the side they can use it."

So then, it is the big one tonight - one of the Premier League's best against probably the world's best.

Arsenal v Barcelona at the Emirates.

It's going to be a heck of a test for the Gunners, but they will be boosted by the return midfielders Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey and keeper Petr Cech for the Champions League last-16 tie against the holders.

Barca will recall defender Gerard Pique, who was rested for the win at Las Palmas, and midfielder Sergio Busquets, who was suspended.

"We absolutely need to have, as a squad, total focus to have a chance," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

He's not kidding. We'll have more build-up throughout the day.

Sean Moroney: What, so more English teams can give you a showing up in Europe? Absolute ludicrous. Whereas teams like Celtic have to play numerous qualifiers. Champions League - it's in the title.

Nathan Brindley: Yeah, while were at it why don't we set up our leagues like MLS and just have a set of preapproved teams in the top league who can't possibly get relegated? What an insult to sport.

Douglas Martin: So teams like Feyenoord, Mechelin, Benfica, Celtic, Copenhagen or Malmo, or teams that WIN their respective national titles would be dumped out in favour of someone like Man Utd or Inter Milan even though they finish 6th or 7th in their respective leagues. It's a joke and a cynical exploitation of the system to suit the rich and marginalise the less glamorous teams and countries. Someone please remind me what the words 'Champions League' means?

United have lifted the FA Cup 11 times, the last of which was when they won 3-0 against Millwall in Cardiff in 2004 - but can they relieve the gloom of this season by claiming the trophy for the first time in 12 years?

They have a tough quarter-final task against West Ham United, but they are at home and just one match from a Wembley semi-final.

In the short-term at least, the win over Shrewsbury stops the rot after damaging losses away to Sunderland and FC Midtjylland in the Europa League horror show in Denmark.

Louis Van Gaal can now turn his attention to Thursday and overturning the Danish side's 2-1 advantage.

So despite all the gloomy predictions beforehand, Manchester United and Louis van Gaal sailed to a comfortable if slightly uninspiring victory at Shrewsbury Town.

In truth, the Reds didn't really need to get out of second gear against a League One side who didn't cause many problems until late in the day when the game was already up.

"I was very pleased. We have played 70 minutes fantastic, in a professional way, creating chances and scoring goals," said Van Gaal.
