Manuel Pellegrini has called on his team to control their emotions after having players shown red cards in previous big European games.

They had a man sent off in both legs of the last-16 defeat by Barcelona in 2013-14, while Gael Clichy was dismissed in the first leg of last season's loss to the same opponents at the same stage.

"We need to have a very hot heart but a cold mind, that's a lesson we've learned," said Pellegrini.

In a game like this one, you are looking for players who can conjure up a moment of brilliance in the final third to make something happen out of nothing.

It is in this area where Manuel Pellegrini has the most options, even with Yaya Toure unavailable.

One advantage of him being out is that, while Kevin de Bruyne has the legs to play wide, he is better in that number 10 role. So, by playing him there you use him in the position where he is most effective.

Playing there he is also likely to have more chances to score himself too.

The £55m Belgian scored crucial goals in both legs of the quarter-final and the onus will be on him and Sergio Aguero to provide the main goal threat again.

It's been a decent day for British tennis players. After Laura Robson's victory earlier, GB men's number three Kyle Edmund has beaten Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets to reach round two at the clay-court Estoril Open.

Edmund came back from a break down in the second set to win 6-3 7-5 and next plays French third seed Benoit Paire.

However, British number two Aljaz Bedene lost 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 to Russia's Karen Khachanov at the Istanbul Open.

It is the second tournament running in which Bedene has been beaten by Khachanov, having lost to the 19-year-old in Barcelona last week.

  19. Wednesday issue Hillsborough statementpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 26 April 2016

Sheffield Wednesday, who were criticised in the Hillsborough inquests' conclusions, have issued a statement.

A jury found the club failed to approve the plans for dedicated turnstiles for each pen in the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

There was also inadequate signage at the club and misleading information on match tickets and club officials should have requested a delay in kick off.

Wednesday's statement said:, external "Both the ownership and leadership of Sheffield Wednesday has also changed in this time and we reiterate that the sincere condolences of the current chairman, board of directors and everyone at the club remain with the families of the 96 and our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragic events of 1989."
